Press Release:
THE COMEDY CHANNEL today announced one of Australia’s favourite comedians, Frank Woodley, will host its Aussie Gold Friday night comedy block launching, September 26.

Frank Woodley is a musician, artist, acrobat and comedian – all talents that he combined in his work as half of the former duo Lano and Woodley, winner of the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Perrier Comedy Award. Frank has appeared on Thank God You’re Here, Spicks & Specks, Good News Week and done hugely successful local and international tours as part of Lano and Woodley and, more recently, as a solo performer in his one-man show, “Possessed”.

Each Friday, Aussie Gold will be three hours of 24 carat Australian comedy gold, a television BBQ of the greatest, timeless Australian comedy favourites. THE COMEDY CHANNEL has rounded up a selection of the finest, including the landmark show, THE COMEDY COMPANY, JIMEOIN, BIG GIRLS BLOUSE, FAST FORWARD’S FUNNIEST TV SEND UPS, Chris Lilley’s WE CAN BE HEROES, THE ADVENTURES OF LANO & WOODLEY, John Clarke’s THE GAMES and THE NORMAN GUNSTON SHOW.

Alex Ristevski, Manager THE COMEDY CHANNEL said: “Frank Woodley is a rare talent and we are delighted to welcome him to THE COMEDY CHANNEL. Not only were some of these shows the inspiration for some of his work, but also one of his shows features in the ‘Aussie Gold’ block. Australian audiences have been demanding such a showcase for years and we are proud to give it to them.”

Aussie Gold will feature some of the most-loved characters ever to grace the small screen including Kylie Mole, Con the Fruiterer, Ja’mie (before she went to Summer Heights High) and, in BIG GIRLS BLOUSE, the very first television appearances of Kath & Kim (and Sharon!) (Ed: pretty sure they featured briefly in Fast Forward before BGB !).

Fridays may never be the same again! Be sure to join THE COMEDY CHANNEL for AUSSIE GOLD from 7.30pm starting September 26.
