Heartbeat films on the Gold Coast

Blair McDonough guest stars in a role for British drama Heartbeat, shooting an episode in Australia.

British drama Heartbeat is currently shooting an episode on the Gold Coast this week with actors Joe McFadden, Clare Wille and Lisa Kay, with Blair McDonough in a guest role.

The production is in Australia for two weeks.

“We were over in a really interesting place last week near Casino which hadn’t changed much since the 1960s,” McFadden told news.com.au. “Filming is going so well there is talk at the moment of perhaps doing a spin-off.

“I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I might be involved.”

McFadden, Wille and Kay play PC Joe Mason, DS Rachel Dawson and nurse Carol Cassidy respectively. Blair McDonough will play an Australian shepherd who lured Aidensfield’s Rosie Cartwright from the Yorkshire moors to warmer pastures.

The episodes aren’t expected to appear on Channel 7 until at least next year.

  1. Theres no way that an australian version of heartbeat will be any good i think that they should leave it as it is in england because australia dosent have the unreal scenery and actors like england does.

  2. Have just watched the 2 episodes shot in Oz and must say I have a problem with the story.
Does anyone out there know who wrote it – Ozzies or Brits?
The ending was shrouded in mystery. [edit]

  3. I’m looking forward to Heartbeat in Australia i hope that Joe Mason and Carol Cassidy get back together you can so see that they are in love . So come on Carol and Joe together and keep DS Dawson out of it. I really think Joe and Carol make a good couple whenever you watch Heartbeat Carol and Joe always seem to be in the same scene.

  4. I think it would be a good idea, to have an Aussie version, I love Heartbeat and get the show taped from me in England by a friend! Its a lot different to the original series, but still worth a watch!

  5. yep its still the 60s in Heartbeat, no easy answer as to how this can be, it just is.

not sure about this spin-off talk, you dont commission a new show, just becasue you like filming there, besides the show already has two spin-offs (the Royal & the Royal Today)

  6. Gonna be interesting to see how they do it. The Gold Coast looks absolutely nothing like it did in the 1960s. Admittedly, I haven’t seen Heartbeat for ages, so I am assuming it’s still set in that era.
