Let’s hear it for the boys

If you want to see how the boys differ from the girls, this is the week to catch Taken Out.

And so finally, FINALLY, this week Taken Out presents 30 single guys competing for a date with a girl.

The appearance of the male species follows three weeks of single girls competing for one guy. It might be worth seeing how they differ from the girls, who buzzed out based on choices as simple as attire. But guys being guys are probably more likely to stay in the game longer….right?

The change of pace should provide a much-needed boost for the TEN dating game show. But will it be enough?

Last week, TEN moved the show from 7pm to 6pm in an effort to address dwindling ratings and find a different audience. On Friday the reached a new low, just 465,000. That’s lower than Yasmin’s Getting Married.

No doubt TEN will be looking closely at whether the arrival of the guys improves the show’s fortunes. TV Tonight reckons by about Thursday signs will be patterns will be pretty obvious.

  1. One of the main flaws with these type of shows is the “hogging of camera time by the host”” and constant reviews of things gone past.

It’s about a 5 min show expanded to 30 mins.

Not the worst show of ’08 but damn close.
Out of question & Hole in the wall still my worst

  2. The program seemed flawed from the beginning – if only due to the refusal to show equal numbers of male and female contestants.

I suspect both men and women would enjoy seeing both sides of the coin. It is simply too late after three weeks on air to start introducing the thirty men versus one woman concept. I cannot beleive they had THAT much trouble sourcing suitable male participants.

  3. David, how are the ratings of it compared to the Simpsons? Hoping the answer is the simpsons rated much higher, then it can get ‘taken out’ completely and simpsons back on.
