Returning: House

TEN plans to "seriously fast-track" season 5 of House this month. Points to the marketing team for creativity.

TEN is returning House to screen with the fifth series later this month. Promoted as “Seriously Fast-tracked”, it is back at 8:30pm Wednesday September 24.

It’s a somewhat creative terminology given the episode will screen in the US on September 16. Surely a 24 hour turnaround would be worthy of the “SERIOUSLY fast-tracked” title (ie. Letterman). Problem is, “fasttracking” is a Seven branding, which has become so common in the marketplace, TEN obviously couldn’t just hi-jack it without making it their own. Ah well…

In any case it will be good to have the show back. For further reading on how the show may proceed in its fifth year, check out these comments from writer David Shore. Warning: some spoilers.

Press Release:
House returns with another stellar season, kicking off with a launch episode that brings us back into the traumatic world of Wilson, coping with the aftermath of House having killed his girlfriend.

House refuses to accept any responsibility for the death of Wilson’s girlfriend, a matter which Wilson personally finds very hard to move on from. Will House’s lack of emotion or responsibility cause Wilson, his one true friend, to resign?

This series continues to explore the personalities and relationships of the core House cast, as well as the three interns that joined in Season 4, with a special focus on Cuddy and House’s ongoing complicated relationship.

Great news about house… any news when Prison Break is coming back??

seven probably doesn’t care about it anymore cause it rates like crap now.

  2. If House aired around the same time as the US then it could be an issue timeslot wise as House will move to Wednesdays in the US starting January 09, meaning that House may have to move timeslot as well, losing 8:30 Wednesday, which House has always aired at in Aus.

  3. Hmm seems it is indeed the 16th not the 17th after all.. post corrected. This would make it about midday Wed 17th in Oz.

For me the issue isn’t so much whether it plays Sept 17 or 24, but the use of “seriously fast-tracked” for a 7 day airdate. As I noted, Letterman is seriously fast-tracked on TEN. Not House.

  4. Johnson – I thought David said House airs in the US on Wednesday Sept 17 but your right I double checked and it airs the day before so yes ch10 could air it Wednesday the 17th here, just hours after the US.

I think I’ll still wait the week as House rates well and we know ch10 will not pull it off the air any time soon.

  5. Ten could have chosen to air House on September 17, but remember one thing: BASEBALL. House is shown on the Fox network in the US, which telecasts Major League Baseball playoffs during October, including the World Series. This means shows like House (and Prison Break for that matter) could be replaced by baseball with only a few days’ notice. It’s wise for Ten to stay behind the US by 1-2 week to avoid the interruptions, because when the World Series is over Ten should be able to air House just a few hours after America as some of you have wished.

  6. It could easily screen on the 17th, and be just a few hours behind the US (airs at at 8/7c on a tuesday in the US, which is midday on a Wed here)
RichoTB, Ten isn’t too bad with House…consistant timeslot, with a few repeats here and there, but considering its being “seriously fast-tracked”, and US networks are prone to skip weeks, this will no doubt continue to happen

  7. This show jumped the shark last season. I’ll give it a miss, and I’ll download Life so I won’t have to put up with Ten’s shoddy programming trends.

  8. I understand why ch10 can’t air it a week before on the 17 because it wouldn’t have aired in the US given the time difference. Tens only option would be to move it to Wednesday nights and show it only a few hours after the US, which would be SERIOUSLY FAST but have chosen to keep it on Wednesday nights where it rates well.

I think I can wait one week and save my bandwidth for shows the network have not shown like Reaper and Eli Stone 😛
