Whatever Happened to That Guy?

Former Fast Forward star Peter Moon's parody about a former television star will air on the Comedy Channel over summer.

As noted here earlier, comedian Peter Moon is putting together a self-referential comedy series about the diminishing spotlight of a once-glorious comic. Moon, who hit the heights of television sketch comedy in Fast Forward, will, naturally, play himself.

Whatever Happened to That Guy? is an 8 part series coming to the Comedy Channel this summer. Alex Ristevski, The Comedy Channel Manager, said “I have no doubt that this team will deliver to us all a most intriguing and hilarious story. It’s just a shame that it’s taken the demise of one of our great comedy legends to bring us together. But through tragedy we hope comes comedy.”

Moon had been trying to get the series into production for a year, including filming scenes to gain the interest of a broadcaster.

In his self-made video, Moon can be seen sitting and laughing at old episodes of Fast Forward, much to the dismay of his wife. In another scene he is told by his personal trainer that he is no longer eligible for “celebrity freebies” as he no longer qualifies.

But Moon hits back. “What about John Blackman? He still gets a freebie?”

Press Release:
The Comedy Channel is proud to announce that it is about to embark on the biggest search in television history. A search to find out What Ever Happened To That Guy? That guy is Peter Moon – once a comedy icon, star of Fast Forward and Breakfast radio, the world at his feet and a free drink card waiting for him at every night club in town.

Five years on, a Moon spotting is as rare as a moon landing, which is hard to comprehend considering the success of his alumni, Jane Turner and Gina Riley, to name but a few.

To help in our search we’ve hired the best in the business, Ruby Entertainment, Loon Productions and who else but legendary comedy director Ted Emery (Kath & Kim) to solve this mystery.

The 8 x 30 minute series of What Ever Happened To That Guy will air on the Comedy Channel this summer.

  1. Hi i had the pleasure to work on this show as an extra playing the part as a film camera crew assistant, first time i have ever done anything like this, and i had a ball with plenty of laughs,i would like to thank all involved for their help and giving me the opportunity to be a part of this very funny series, can’t wait to see it could someone please let me know when the show will be aired…. once again thank you….Peter Moon has still got it… a very funny man…..Allen.

  2. Stanchez, The guy who said “Harsh but honest” should have actually said “harsh by my opinion” who the f… is he to be a world authority on comedy I asks ya?

You don’t have to be pretty to be funny – you just have to be funny – which Mooney is in droves. Sure there is some hit and miss in comedy because of the amount of work put out but that guy is very talented (in my opinion- please note Stanchez)

If you’ve read “Who killed Channel 9” you would see that the ability for the execs to spot talent can be limited at best – most of the time they don’t have a clue because no one does till the adoring public watch it. Good luck Mooney and ffff the TV execs on free to air they are c…. and d… h….. and f…. wits and to…..ers etc ect etc (in my opinion – please not Stanchez)

  3. Hi there, I would like to say that the other day I worked with Peter on this new show on location and had a ball on it. Peter is still as funny as ever or should I say “Better than he has ever been”. I love the man and his work and this new series “What ever happened to that guy” is really going to be funny and great entertainment.
Love you Peter and keep up the great work mate.

    Max

  4. “David he is a very unattractive man.”

Well maybe that’s one of the reasons for why he hasn’t been on TV for so long – and one of the aspects of the humour that will explain exactly what DID happen to him!

  5. Groan! Hopefully he will be funnier than fast forward was.

Why cant these people just slink off into the background and get a regular job and remember that fast forward/full frontal/ comedy company was funny 15 years ago, not today.

Kym Gyngell has managed to change with the times and is really good in Very Small Business. Mark Mitchell has done the right thing and disappeared so why cant Peter Moon!!!

And the photo does not encourage me to watch. Might not be able to sleep tonight. Or eat.

    Harsh but honest.

  6. How strange. I was just thinking the other day “Whatever happened to Peter Moon?” – pretty much exactly what this show’s title asks. And here’s my answer! Almost ironic though, that unless it gets picked up by free tv, most of us will miss it. I wonder if Angry Anderson will make a cameo, singing “Bound for Glory” on the back of a novelty prop. Oh well, back to the real world…
