Woof. Wilfred’s comin’ back.

Actors Jason Gann and Adam Zwar told TV Tonight they can't wait to get their paws stuck into another series of television's most offensive dog.

Bong-smoking dogs across Australia rejoice. Your favourite mutt is heading back into production.

Jason Gann and Adam Zwar are returning to their comedy series about a talking dog, Wilfred.

The SBS comedy in which Gann wears a mangey dog suit screened last year.

Wilfred is the pet of Sarah (Cindy Waddingham) who doesn’t take kindly to her new boyfriend, Adam (Adam Zwar). The layered dynamic between the three central characters was one of the charms of the show, along with the ridiculously zany premise of a talking dog.

Gann, who most recently appeared on Mark Loves Sharon told TV Tonight he was having a ball writing the second series. Gann developed the series from a Tropfest short with Zwar, who also appeared on Rush last week as an unlikely gunman.

Wilfred became a cult comedy for SBS last year, garnering great word of mouth with its cynical gags and its maverick style. It was also picked up by the The Independent Film Channel in New York.

The series will be produced again by Renegade Films and likely to screen in 2009.

  1. Great news. Mark Loves Sharon was alright. But it was a completely different team that made Mark Loves Sharon to the team that made Wilfred. The only person involved in both projects was Jason Gann.

  2. Yeah great show, hope they keep up the quality with the 2nd series and more. Dunno how they could win with this but fail with that mark loves sharon rubbish.
