Charity event hits Melbourne

Brendan Moar, Matt Shirvington, Antonia Kidman and Demelza Reveley join the Foxtel Lap.

Foxtel’s charity event The Foxtel Lap lands in Melbourne this week, after its first event for the year last week in Brissy.

Personalities including Brendan Moar, Matt Shirvington, Antonia Kidman, Maude Garrett and Kyle Linahan, will join Demelza Reveley, Sarah Jones, Chris Stubbs, Jacinta Tynan and Danny Clayton. Project Runway Australia contestants Petrova Hammond and Helen Manuell will also attend.

Along with corporate teams, they hope to raise money for the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.

The Melbourne event happens this Friday, October 3rd at the City Square.

Following its national debut in Brisbane last week The FOXTEL Lap corporate treadmill challenge hits Melbourne, Friday, October 3 at City Square.

The one day public event will see teams of 20 people compete to run or walk as many 100m “laps” as they can to raise money for Australia’s leading children’s medical research body, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.

The Melbourne FOXTEL Lap kicks off from 8.00am with a record amount of teams signed on so far including, Deloitte, Virgin, Nova, SCT Logistics, KMPG, ANZ, UBS, Macquarie, Ernst and Young, Wilson Parking Group, Kailis Brothers, Salesforce, KordaMentha, Hungry Jacks and more.

FOXTEL Lap ambassadors appearing in Melbourne will be sportsman Matt Shirvington, W Channel’s Antonia Kidman, Lifestyle’s Brendan Moar, Nickelodeon’s Maude Garrett and Kyle Linahan, Australia’s Next Top Model 2008 winner Demelza Reveley along with FOX SPORTS NEWS presenters Sarah Jones and Chris Stubbs, SKY NEWS presenter Jacinta Tynan and Channel V’s Danny Clayton. Project Runway Australia contestants Petrova Hammond and Helen Manuell will be on hand to showcase some of their Project Runway designs.

The stars will not only host the event but will also hit the treadmill alongside prominent Melbourne CEO’s and local business identities.

The successful event, not just for elite athletes, is about participation, having fun and getting fit, and since 2005 has raised over 2 million dollars, with proceeds going to MCRI for vital research to help treat and prevent conditions affecting babies, children and adolescents.

· Sydney: Martin Place Friday, November 14
