Gale Harold in critical condition

Actor Gale Harold (Queer as Folk, Desperate Housewives) is in a critical condition after a motorcycle accident.

Actor Gale Harold is in critical condition and awaiting further tests after being hospitalized with injuries incurred in a Tuesday motorcycle accident.

The actor best known for his role as “Brian” in Queer as Folk is currently appearing in the fifth season of Desperate Housewives.

“We can confirm that Gale Harold was in a motorcycle accident,” said his publicist. “He has fractured his shoulder and is under observation to assess any possible further injuries. Everyone is hopeful for a full recovery.”

But despite original reports and statements that suggested his primary injury was done to a shoulder,  Housewives creator Marc Cherry told the Associated Press that Harold apparently has swelling on the brain, but is expected to recover.

Harold was due on the ABC series’ set before getting into the accident. The accident is not expected to impact the show’s production.

“It’s something they can work around,” sources say. “Production schedules are changing all the time and they will work it out.”

No one else was injured in the crash.
