Today takes to Melbourne
The Today show is back in Melbourne from tomorrow for three broadcasts to celebrate the Melbourne Cup.
It returns to Bourke Street, as it did last year, broadcasting live on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. Guests will include Oprah’s make up artist Reggie Wells, Megan Gale, Luke Mangan, Axle Whitehead, Kate and Gai Waterhouse plus Tim Finn.

David Tennant to exit Dr. Who
This is gonna hurt.
David Tennant is leaving Doctor Who after 2009.
He made the announcement at the UK’s National Television Awards to the screams of disappointed fans.
Tennant said “I’ve had the most brilliant, bewildering and life-changing time working on Doctor Who. I have loved every day of it. It would be very easy to cling on to the Tardis console for ever and I fear that if I don’t take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will.”

Foxtel 2009: the “big picture”
In Sydney last night pay-TV sales group Multi-Channel Network hosted a function with Foxtel CEO Kim Williams, Austar chief John Porter and subscription heavyweights. The pay TV industry focused on the “big TV picture.”

Auditions: Australia’s Got Talent
Seven’s talent show Australia’s Got Talent is already gearing up for its third season. Clearly pushing it towards an early ‘09 slot, Heats begin in January and the Grand Final is slated for April 2009.
Auditions for wacky contestants with skills frequently in search of a home, can front at Seven’s national tour beginning in Canberra on November 8 and ending in Byron Bay on December 7.

ONE HD bumps TEN HD into limbo
TEN’s “science fiction Thursday”, Neighbours catch-up, timeshifted News and documentaries on TEN HD could become a thing of the past with confirmation that there is no contingency plan announced alongside the launch of ONE HD.
TEN HD will continue on air until April when it is overtaken by TEN’s 24hr sports channel ONE HD. The current home of TEN HD, Channel 12, will broadcast the sports content in standard definition.
That leaves Smallville and other fan favourites in television limbo. Other shows including Torchwood, Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, One Tree Hill, Friday Night Lights …

Mark Little has confirmed that he has no plans to return to a stint as Joe Mangel in Neighbours.

Airdate: The Howard Years
A documentary that caused a stoush between an SBS filmmaker and the ABC will have its airing next month.
The Howard Years is a four part series looking at the Liberal Government’s 11 year reign.
As previously reported, SBS has also been developing its own series, Liberal Rule. Independent producer Nick Torrens said the ABC agreed to sell archival footage in April last year, but later decided to put conditions on a sale to make sure that the SBS series is not screened before The Howard Years.

Nine will air a 90 minute special of Domestic Blitz on Monday November 10th at 7:30pm. It will feature Tourette’s patient Bianca Saez whose family home on the Sunshine Coast gets a renovation from the Nine team.
