Rumour: This is Your Life

By David Knox on October 24, 2008 / Filed Under News 15

TV Tonight hears a show that’s previously been on Channel Nine could be headed back to Channel Seven.

Why else would they be asking for audience members…..?

The show has been hosted for many years by Mike Munro on Nine, but he is retiring from television. With that in mind, could Nine have decided not to renew the format?

The show is still running in New Zealand where TVNZ has just rerun a special on Rob Guest, as a tribute to the star. You can see him surprised here.

hey don’t go knocking Humphrey Bear, he’s been on TV for forty years and has managed to avoid wearing pants for the whole time :P

This is your life is cringeworthy for the number of media celebs that get “their life’ presented to them. The last one for Shannon Noll says it all.

Now if television actually did TIYL for REAL people that make a difference in society, then great. The people that work for Salvos, hospitals, aboriginal welfare etc
deserve a lot more than a brainless twit that can’t sing a tune or once hosted a mediocre games show.

But the continual sucking up to these ‘so called celebs’ is a joke.

P.S. what next a special on the life and times of Jules Lund, Richard Wilkins,Jackie O or Humphrey Bear.

Given that the latest TIYL honours have gone to Bert Newton (for a third time!) and Shannon Noll, I’d say there aren’t any notable Aussies left to surprise with the phrase “this is your life”..

I’m so over Kochie and Mel hosting all these shows.

    (Continuation)
    - and this show started out at 7 anyway

if ch7 ended up bringing this back they would probably tap into the celebs that have been locked away from 9 at 7 and then finish. It would never be a super long running show that when you think its dead pops up again (the way ch9 did it).

don’t do it 7, if its not good enough for 9′s standards it definately isn’t good enough for 7

    @knoxoverstreet. i beg to differ.

yes koshie and mel are very undertalented and overexposed

but comparing to 9, 7 does seem to have more talent. i’d think (i know this is my opinion) Bert and karl have lost their touch, ACA has ruined tracy’s appeal, to many people hate eddie’s guts to ever put him on anything, catriona rowntree is getting annoying, and the list goes on.

and as for “Seven takes Nine’s rejects.” could you please give examples. because i always thought that it went the other way:
    - wheel of fortune: that was a tragedy
    - tim campell: just his name seems to cut a show (bingo, wheel, singing bee)

I’ll liked this is your life. Hard to imagine the show withoput Mike Munro though…

I would not be surprised if it is a gameshow that made the move not This Is Your Life.

Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, Temptation and the Price Is Right (which all need studio audiences, in the case of Price, large studios and large audiences) have all had runs on 7 in the past, Temptation as “Great Temptation” in the 70′s, Wheel from 1981 to 2006, PIR as “The New Price Is Right” during the early 1980′s and Family Feud in the early 1990′s.

It would at least be entertainging if Agro hosted. a fallen star

Kochie is too busy saving us from financial ruin – I’d tip Matt White, it’ll humanise him some more.

Nice one alyx and really that’s all Seven have as far as hosts go they don’t have the depth of talent that Nine has. And as usual Seven take Nine’s rejects.

This show should be put to death…or left on 9 which is kind of the same thing.

Are there any people left to say it to? It wasn’t even rating that well for 9 anyway.
7 should probably not worry about it.

Please no. Frankly, who’s left to do ? Seven should give the production money to SBS for more Australian episodes of ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’

I’ll take a guess and say Kochie and Mel will host it.
