And here is your first look at actress Michala Banas in the role of “Libby” on Neighbours.
Banas stepped into the role when Kym Valentine took suddenly ill after a holiday in New York.
Her storylines were too central to the plot to be dropped so quickly, causing producers to hurriedly find another actress to fill in for the part. It’s a rarity in television soap, but it has happened before…
Banas’ appears in the role for a month beginning Tuesday November 11th.

I’m a bit behind! In England tonight is the first episode with the different actress!
When will Kym Valentine be back!? Anyone know!? x
I like the actor. It would be great to see her in another role, I reckon she’d suit the neighbors cast really well, just as long as she’s not made into this bitchy character cus we already have too many of those
Be interesting to see what her chemistry is like with Carla as Steph and Libby just seem to bring Carla and Kyms friendship to life onscreen.
That’s what TEN’s info to me had….
It will be strange to see someone else play “Libby”, but I’m glad they picked Michala – she’s a great actress! (It’s “Michala” by the way, not “Michaela” ;-))
Im really excited to see her play Libby. I sure will be watching these episodes.
Someone knows his stuff!
Be interesting how the viewers will react to Michela, I found it hard to accept Collete Mann when she replaced Caroline Gilmour as Cheryl Stark, however it has worked well in Home & Away with Nancy Hayes filling in as Ailsa, and Debra Lawrence taking over the role as Pippa, even Louise Crawford did well playing the part of Selena while Tempany Deckert was unwell. Good Luck Michela, at least there’s a familiar face close by.
Apart from having rather defined features, they look very similar.
I love Michaela, can’t wait to see what she’s like as ‘Libby Kennedy.’
Looks good so far. It would be interesting to see another great actress protray Libby Kennedy.
I’m not really looking forward to her appearing on the show.. Her acting will no doubt be different to Kim’s so the entire feel of what happens will be all messed up.
Sad that she got sick right when she was aboutt o get some really good storylines.
The best swap-over was when Pippa in H&A was replaced seemingly for no reason all those years ago… One had red hair, the other had blond iirc…
I’m actually looking forward to this and I think she’ll be great in the role.
Can’t be any worse than Kym!
Judging by that pic, it looks like she’ll be able to pull it off. Thanks for the air date of her debut too.
Did anyone catch the ironic scene a few weeks back, in which Libby was planning to use the excuse of getting sick on the plane to get out of going to Elle’s party (although she ended up going in the end)?
ooo.. i like her.. i wish they’d give her, her own role..
cant wait 🙂
bahahaha, I love it when soaps have to do this, always cracks me up. I rememeber when they had to get a new….lou’s wife (forget her name).
Wow, i think if you take the face away, she looks just like Kym.
I recently learnt that Micheala Banas character was romantically linked to Bret Tucker in McLeods Daughters. And I know she was paired with Scott Magor in Always Greener. So these guys both being her love interest in Nieghbours, plus the fact that she looks similar to Kim, probably makes her the best ever replacement. I look forward ro seeing her.
well the mcleods actors/ess have done well to stay in the spotlight zoe naylor to gladiators, luke jacobs to H&A, rachel carpani to scorched, aaron jeffery to the strip, brett tucker and micala to neighbors, gilian alexy was in PTTR, bridie carter was on DWTS
any news what lisa chappel is up to? she was a great actor and a lot of peoples favourie character.
this is just random. when will the episdoe air
she looks ok, the hair looks good. Still its going to be very strange seeing Libby played by someone else.
