I live in perth and i watch telethon every year. its amazing how all the stars come to perth to entertain us( which they do) i was also very happy to see another record for telethon even though were in this tough economic time. GO PERTH!! also david could you do me a favour, if 9am with david and kim gain ratings could you let us know. cheers man and keep up the good work:)

Also, its great to see such a big total. In previous years you’d expect probably 3 million at most and last year set such a high benchmark, I was actually surprised how much was raised so early, especially considering the unsure economic times we live in.

Richard H: The money goes to Perth’s Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research and the Telethon Speech and Hearing Centre, as well as a bunch of other charities.

Melbourne also has its own telethon style event, the Good Friday Appeal. Perth’s Telethon was started about 40 years ago by TVW’s board members, so its more of a local WA thing that has endured and grown throughout the years.

The money goes to princess margert hospital- a hospital for children and other charitys around western australia focusing on medical breakthroughs. It’s a really great cause and one of the biggest telethons in the world.
