Vote for Comedy Gold

'H. G.' Nelson will host the search for the Comedy Channel's next hit series.

‘H.G. Nelson’ will host the Comedy Gold event at the 2008 Screen Producers’ Association on the Gold Coast in November.

The event is an opportunity for comedians, writers and emerging producers to create a new 13part comedy series for the Comedy Channel.

Amongst the twelve finalists are actor Adam Zwar, comedian Marty Fields and radioman Steve Bedwell. Five of twelve finalists will participate in the Gold Coast pitch-off. Voting for the top 5 is open to the public; you can see the finalists here.

Last year’s winners were I Can’t Believe It’s Not Better created by writers Sean Condon and Rob Hibbert and Jason and the Residents created by Jason Gann.

THE COMEDY CHANNEL is pleased to announce H.G. Nelson will host this year’s Comedy Gold event at the 2008 SPAA Conference being held on the Gold Coast from November 12-14.

THE COMEDY CHANNEL is offering up to $25,000 towards the development of a new TV comedy concept as part of the 2008 SPAA Conference – Comedy Gold and invited Australian writers, performers and producers to submit programme ideas for a 13 part half-hour comedy series.

Twelve short-listed producers have been selected and put to an on-line public vote at THE COMEDY CHANNEL website. The top five finalists as selected by the public will be invited to pitch their comedy concept to a panel including FOXTEL’s Executive Director Television and Marketing, Brian Walsh, Director of Programming Ross Crowley and THE COMEDY CHANNEL Manager Alex Ristevski on November 13 at the Sheraton Hotel, Gold Coast.

As a reward for voting you have the chance to win a trip for two to the Gold Coast including return flights and two nights at the Palazzo Versace Hotel.

  1. I watched all of them (or at least as much as I could watch of each one) Most are dreadful or God awful. The hidden camera one was hilarious and I had to rewatch it to make sure it was that funny. But almost all of the others are just male orientated rubbish childish and humorless.
