All posts came across from the old layout, but yes not everything fits into the current navigation. You can search for Missing in Action and Show Watch tho I haven’t updated them yet. I’m aware of some of this which is why the site is still in beta.
Thanks David and yes with 5 weeks to go plenty of time for shows to be axed!
Ahh thanks 4 the info David. Yeah there was the Missing In Action page for the unscheduled shows, etc. its just hard to look for w/ the new layout. Are there still archives of the Missing In Action/2009 show watch??
Wow Nanny McPhee did really well – over one million viewers. I think if it had a better lead in the movie would’ve rated better (Download got half the viewers of Nanny McPhee). Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader is going down in viewers. They should have some celebrity on it again soon.
No it didn’t Richo Show Watch: The Axe. It archives shows that were specifically “axed” as opposed to dropped, in limbo, bumped to summer etc….
As with last year there will be a summary of how networks and shows performed at year’s end. We’re certainly not there yet.
Craig there used to be a list called “The Axe”, but it got removed after the switch to Wordpress.
Riker, I agree that 2.5 men is drivel and The Mentalist is fantastic. 2.5 men is pretty much the only thing working for Nine right now, as its pretty much the lowest common denominator of TV. There are wayyyyyyyy better comedies on TV than that tripe.
And why on earth did Nanny McPhee rate 1 million? The family movie theory probably isn’t very reliable, coz Shark Tale only got 800,000 on Seven.
What is hell is wrong with people who take part in ratings? Two And A Half Men is complete rubbish. If people want to talk about predictability then my word, this show is a gold medal performer.
The Mentalist is performing very well, backed up by some smart scripts and a good cast.
Can’t believe Fringe is doing so poorly. Anyone other than me suspect of some ratings figures? Most people I know watch it (not that its scientific) but I know a fairly decent cross-section of people. Not one of them watches TAAHMen OR Australian Top Gear (also complete crap)
IMO ch7 didn’t win the year, ch9 lost it with programming mistakes, moving/removing shows before giving them time to grow and the viewers to trust it would be on the next week. Viewers are becoming tech-savvy and if their show is removed without warning and no sigh it will be back they will find it else where and a few hours later they can be watching the next episode if it has aired elsewhere in the world.
David do you have a list of shows that have failed on the different networks?
Has 7 won the year yet?
Woo Neighbours gets in there at least once, now, if they try harder maybe it can happen again.
LOL of course it is David. I know nine can be stupid in their decision making process, but if they brought back the tv show one back in prime-time that would be crazy.
So 10 basically doubled the the ratings for it’s movie over 7&9, good on them!
Benno.. that’s a movie
Spunkym… that’s top 5 plus others listed.
Wow, did both National Nine News and A Current Affair rate that badly they didn’t even get a position in the top 10 for Friday night?!
- Spunkymonkeycaesar
Nanny McPhee is a family movie as opposed to the others so it’s not surprising it did well.
It also appears that nine have finally come to their senses and brought back monster house……
Ive noticed that 7 and 9, (and 10 with king kong) have recently started screening extremely long movies, obviously to try to get more people watching til the clock strikes 12 at the close of oztam. As long as they get that extra percentage point, they’ll keep doing it. I can’t understand why anyone would watch a movie that long on tv. Four hours, or even 3 1/2 hours of commercial tv in a row is crazy.
Wow.
Nanny McPhee rated REALLY well, even despite the DREADFUL lead-in and the relatively late timeslot (considering that it’s a movie aimed at children). Imagine how much higher the ratings would have been if they played it out at 7.30pm instead of the dreadful Download. Ten would have been better off screening Simpsons/Futurama repeats in its place.
What’s also surprising is that Nanny McPhee has outrated most of Ten’s top US shows for the week.
Then again, it’s not like it had any competition on the other networks.
While the ratings for 5th grader aren’t great, it still got more viewers than eiher Jamie and Idol Results got earlier in the week…and with the amount of sponsor cross-promotion in the show, I doubt Ten has reason to drop it.
Having said that, I would’t be suprised if it didn’t get renewed in 2009 though.
How I met your mother was also considered a ‘bubble’ show with about 8 million viewers (before Britney appeared which saw it gain 2 million), however after the strike, i think that the term ‘bubble’ show has a lower value. It also depends on the demos too.
Big numbers there for BH&G and can’t say I’m surprised it’s the perfect show for a friday night. Has a nice cosy feel and despite my utter dislike for Johanna Griggs I find myself enjoying parts of it.
And on a side note Kath & Kim not surprisingly seems to have dropped off in the states to 6m. US networks seem to have a higher tolerance for lower ratings but it would seem to be “on the bubble” as they say.
Channel 7 and 9 are doing 10 a favour on thursdays with AR, heroes strip and RPA low figures. boosting law and order numbers up. its a shame ten has a poor lead-in line up or they would of won the night coz they won 8.30 n 9.30 slot
Good to see The Amazing Race over the million. But Rove hasn’t had much success recently – every show he’s on gets average, or as was Fifth Grader’s case, very low ratings.
Perhaps this is why he’s not the host of the ARIAs this year… LOL. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if his low ratings was the reason!
Rove needs to get Hamish & Andy back on 5th grader fast.
Axe The Strip!! Its horrible. Worst show on Nine, and thats saying something.
Life is a great show. It deserves better figures than CSI:NY and Criminal Minds.
Fringe has been bumped, not surprising. Terrible show. L&O seems to be rather popular lately
And I wonder why there’s such interest in TAR when seasons 10 and 11 earlier the year didn’t rate that high at all. Most likely due to a complete lack of any decent competition
i don’t think this will be the last season we see of Supermodel if it can keep numbers around the mil mark and dominate the much needed younger demos for seven it may just survive.
but i do think that 15 weeks is a bit too long, cut it down to 10-12 weeks and run it parallel to Dancing with the stars/ it takes two/ australias got talent
Exactly salty, Rush is superior.
The Strip is terrible, a shame a quality show like Rush isnt getting better figures
The Strip is really dreadful TV. Just listen to the theme tune for a start… like something out of the early 90s! The acting is really embarrassing to watch too.
The Amazing Race did a pretty decent job, competitive it total people and the number 1 show of the night in 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s. Model climbing back over 1 mill, getting closer to Getaway and killing it in younger demos. Heroes, whilst also doing well in younger demos, probably wont last much longer in prime time – Australians really hate their sci fi! Lost, Heroes, Fringe, Sarah Connor Chronicles just to name a few failures this year.
Ten had a good night, apart from 5th Grader which is really starting to bomb.
9 have a very consistant consistant lineup, with The Strip back over the magic million. I doubt we will see a second season though.
I still cannot believe 2.5 men is continuing its dream run for nine. With a few minor exceptions (credit is due to the actors for good performances with what are normally tired and cliched scripts) the show is purile rubbish. I’m hoping its ratings boom is merely a flash in the pan (a la Gordon Ramsey).
Good to see The Strip get back over the million mark and beat TAR. Fantastic ep too!
RPA also creeping up over the magic million.
Go TAR! Only 20,000 less than The Strip. That should really please Seven.
Heroes down 80,000 from last week (170,000 from the 8.30 ep last week), but at least PB is up on last week. Hopefully Seven persists with these two.
Why is it hard to get figures for Neighbours – unless it does fairly well. Obviously it was below 700k on Thursday.
How long can Fringe last at 0.671m?
Surely its gotta be bumped to a latter time slot, it cant sustain a 8.30 primetime slot with those dissapointing figure, With Such a strong lead in figure of 1.4 from 2.5 Men…… Fringe hurts Nine’s overall share for the night,
But it looks the way that nines programing department looks as empty like melbourne water storages………. oh wait new delivery of 2.5 Men just of fedx’ed to Bendigo Street
Looks like House is staying at around 800 k. Maybe TEN’s promos for House is lame. For the next episode it didn’t look interesting imo. But great to see NCIS is doing well. Looks like NCIS is TEN’s strongest show so far.
Does anyone remember how long was Idol’s Results show last year? This week Idol Result is so low. I guess people just tune in the last 5 mins. When I watch the show I just want them to reveal the results already. But maybe it’ll help people from complaining about the winner of Idol.
Good Game is an awesome show. They need to get it on ABC1 in a primetime slot. I’m telling you, its the future.
Fringe is an awesome show. It’s just unfortunate it’s in a tough time slot. I have to decide what I watch and what I tape to watch later.
The CSI: NY episode was a good one but didn’t feel right on Wed, and following Fringe. Should switch with Cold Case which I believe would work well with Fringe – and have the CSI & CSI: NY combo on Mondays that many have suggested. Even though I love all these shows and watch regardless of when they are on, there is certainly something to be said able about the right match.
Fringe not even in the to 20 of the night. The fact that this show is decreasing in already low numbers shows people have seen it and decided not to watch it (as opposed to just never seeing it).
we might never know why australia’s reaction was so different to americas even after ch9 gave it a good chance: the huge promotion, putting a 2.5men lead in, keeping it thus far at 8:30
.671 is beyond pushing it to 9:30. it should go straight to 10:30 or summer
Benno, now having seen Fox’s promos, I too agree they are much better.
Having seen the ep, it had almost no connection to the rest either of the storylines in the episode. TBH, they could have even cut the scene and many viewers would have been none the wiser.
And I notice Ten’s making no mention of the Fasttracking of less than a day in their promos. You’d think they’d be shouting that from the rooftops to get more viewers in.
Any figures for Newstopia?
put Thank God youre here repeats at 7.30 wednesdays as well in keeping them on sundays, doesnt hurt ten and will help house reach over 1 million.
I think another factor with house is that 10’s promos are really lame. Like the one for this week – ‘The new season of house is unpredictable, who would think that this would happen to house’ (or very close to that)- and he falls down. Compared to the fox promo i saw on youtube, it really shows the quality difference between their promos.
For fringe, i still think that there will be a lot of people who dvr it, and it cuts off the ending cause nine extended it past 9.30, and then they just say to hell with it (watching it on nine, or at all).
interesting…ten picked up during the week…looks like Tuesday was their best night so far.
Fringe bombed!! And what about CSI: NYs figures??
House looks like its settled and will maintain the 800k mark – it isnt being helped by its lead ins – Jamie not doing much better than bondi and kenny.
Looking forward to tonights battle between amazing race and the strip.
Totally agree RichoTB in regards to DVR ratings, it is definitely a practice that should be picked up here.
Masive figures for Criminal Minds premiere, though the repeat had poor retention compared to last week.
2.5 Men continue to do the job for 9, but Fringe and CSI: NY bombed out badly. I dont think Fringe will be in that slot next week. I find it really odd 9 axe Australian productions when they fall below 900k, but when US shows do the same they keep it in their schedule. Even McLeods Daughters was doing better than that!
Yet another poor night for ten, even though it’s probably one of their strongest nights content wise. Jamie doing marginally better than Bondi/Kenny, but House is continuing with very poor figures.
What is happening to House and Fringe? I watched both last night and not CM. What can ch9 replace Fringe with? more 2.5 Men! And again Jamie is not much better than Bondi and Kenny.
2.5 hours of 2.5 Men. Could Nine do it. What else do they have to replace Fringe. I’m tipping it will be moved to a 10.30pm slot next week. David do you have the figures for CSI:NY. Given it was after Fringe i’m tipping it got about 700,000 viewers. Criminal Minds was awesome last night. Thanks for the review.
good to see the criminal minds ratings so high. seven did a great job promoting it. after all that though i didnt actually watch it! but hey, socceroos took priority. guess i’ll have to find other ways to watch it….
2.5 men keeps on keeping on despite repeats everywhere. with fringe and the strip not looking very good lately will we see 2 more hours of it in a few weeks? 5 straight on a wednesday looking more likely every week……
Clearly the country has gone off House, but as long as it continues to beat ch9 in that slot i gues they can sort of count it as a win….
Surely fringe will be pulled after those numbers? they’re 90210 level!
finally, good to see rush’s ratings pick up a bit on tuesday. its doing well in most cities but tanking in sydney though. it got more viewers from bisbane then sydney! strange…
Good to see Rush pick up another 100k this week, hopefully will crack the million next week, definitely deserves it considering most of the trash that does over a million. That’s a pretty solid jump for Kenny’s World as well isn’t it? Definitely makes more sense having it run after the new Simpsons episode, not after a show that I imagine is/was mostly watched by teenage girls.
Yes, I ‘m with you Doreen Re 2.5 man. Why they jumped to the episode where Charlie nearly got married, when it had been shown recently is anyones guess. Nine appear to have thrown the episodes into the air and we watch what ever has landed in some crazy random order. I’m sure there are episodes I havn’t seen, yet also many I’ve seen twice in a very short period. Nine What’s going on?
Matt White is great. Did a good job and spoke to me rather than at me.
i have only recently started watching an ep of 2.5 men here and there – not long at all – and tonight i saw an ep that was on not long ago. Wake up channel 9!
