Kubrick has to be my favourite director. I purchased Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures book and dvd not long ago.

2001 and Barry Lyndon are ones to look out for Well……..they all are!

Didnt SBS do this not long ago? Maybe within the last couple of years? I remember because I watched both Full Metal Jacket and Clockwork Orange for the first time.

I can’t speak for Full Metal Jacket, but I recorded an SBS airing of A Clockwork Orange a few years back (’05?) and it was 100% uncut.

I didn’t know that SBS had it’s own MAV15+ version of the AV15+ rating the commercial channels use. Does anyone know why SBS does this?

SBS could probably show the R18+ versions of A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket and rate them MAV15+. Even if ACMA had a problem with SBS doing this in the end ACMA has no real power over SBS (that’s my understanding) they can only decide if SBS failed their own SBS guidelines and ACMA can’t fine or suspend SBS.

Agree everything Neon KItten has said, plus a couple of the films, namely Clockwork and Full Metal, are R rated and would of been cut for screening on sbs, heck, even pay edits his films also(eyes wide shut on movie extra, if you have seen that it was one hatchett job done to it).

The doco sounds intriguing.

The movies, though, are wasted on SBS with obnoxious watermark and ad breaks. They’re all available cheap on DVD, or in pristine quality on Blu-ray (on which 2001 is a revelation, by the way)
