Prison Break telemovie?

Those extra two hours on hold: a finale or a telemovie?

News of an additional two hours for the current season of Prison Break raised speculation the show could be headed for the bin. But while that hasn’t been ruled out, there is now a second theory: a telemovie.

“FOX was very happy with how the 24 movie turned out and they are interested in us doing something similar,” a source who works on the show tells EOnline.

However while the studio that produces the show is looking into the possibility of making an extra two hours FOX hasn’t necessarily agreed to buy and/or air those two hours.

Details of a potential plot aren’t forthcoming, but reports say it would not impact the planned storylines for season four, currently on air.

Prison Break’s mid-season finale airs in the US on December 22nd, and then the show will return in the spring to finish out the 22-episode order.

US ratings for the Wentworth Miller / Dominic Purcell drama have slipped a little with each consecutive season, dropping to about 6.4 million viewers this season.

Seven returns the series to Aussie fans tonight at 10:30pm, and doubles the dose each Tuesday and Wednesday from next week.

  1. we have loved prison break right from the start. especially this last series. wow it was so great getting towards the end we didnt want it to end. Tbag is so bad but the show wouldnt be the same without him. we were so looking forward to the next series and were devastated to hear it was no more. please show what episodes can be shown and i hope they make the telemovie to finish it up properly. it will help our healing of no more.

  2. Maybe the shows likes Prisonbreak & other s would get better ratings if there was on air promotions. TV guides are becoming a joke because the networks chop & change so much,
Like tonight there has been numourous on air advertising for rubbish shows like the bold & the beautiful, why all the promotion now & none when it was in an earlier time slot.

  3. Actually i just thought that they may be counting live +dvr 7 days in the ratings instead of live+1 day dvr ratings.

Since the twist at the end of the 12th episode with [spoiler], i think they could easily make another 10-12 decent episodes.

  4. No way, dont pull the plug on the show, im already up to the 12th episode, and this season is so much better then the 3rd, so stupid how channel 7 have it at 10 30, but its cool how they have it on twice a week.

  5. I like the show still, if they have decent ideas to continue it, then i’m fine. If they are running out of creative juice, which i personally don’t believe, then keep it going. The problem is, how far you can go with the new directions. I guess its hard for some people to grasp how the show has evolved into something different than its origin. It however would need a big shake up to last longer.
I kind of love the way the show is now kind of a spin off show from the original.

If this is the end, then kudos for them actually being able to wrap up the story. This sort of show after 4 years would suck if it was cancelled with out an ending. It’s one thing to start a promising series for a few weeks and have it cancelled (my own worst enemy), than to have invested time watch dozens and dozens of episodes.

  6. I think you’ll find the ratings are a bit lower than 6.4 million. It’s been fluctuating between about 5.3 and 5.8 million since a few episode in.

As long as the storylines get wrapped up nicely, either way of finishing it off is fine by me.
