Returning: Temptation

Temptation returns to Nine next week, in what is very possibly its last ever quiz round.

Temptation returns to Nine next week in new episodes filmed mid-year. It will certainly make a fresh change from soaps and sitcoms.

At this stage there is no guarantee these won’t be the last ever episodes of the quiz show, given that filming has not resumed and production crew have all moved on to other projects. Shows these days are rarely axed, they just aren’t commissioned for more blocks.

The summer episodes, expected to run for around 8 weeks, include viewer prize of a year’s supply of petrol valued at $3500. Since 2005, Temptation has featured more than 1200 contestants and given away more than $12.5 million.

“The race is on to be the first big winner in 2008, said host Ed Phillips, “and we always find someone with that special magic, knowledge and speed to take the mantle as our next grand champion. I can’t wait until it’s game on.”

Press Release:
This summer the contestants won’t be the only people in the running to reap the rewards of Temptation when Channel Nine’s quiz show hosted by Ed Phillips and Livinia Nixon returns for a new series from Monday, December 1 at 7.00pm.

Up for grabs are two topless Swedish beauties … eye-catching convertible Volvos. When viewers tune in on December 1, Ed and Livinia will give details on how they can win one of two Volvo C70 convertibles valued at more than $70,000 each. Over 10 nights, Temptation will also give viewers the opportunity to drive away with a year’s supply of liquid gold, Caltex petrol valued at $3500.

The winners have been coming smarter and faster in Temptation’s 500-episode history. The biggest prize winner to date is Yolanda Stoper from Victoria who took home a huge pool worth $932,577 in cash and prizes. And Sunil Badami from Sydney, who became the second grand champion of Temptation in 2007, snared $638,086.

“We’re certainly coming back with a bang, making contestants sweat on the buzzers over summer,” said Ed Phillips. “The race is on to be the first big winner in 2008 and we always find someone with that special magic, knowledge and speed to take the mantle as our next grand champion. I can’t wait until it’s game on.”

Filmed in the studios of Channel Nine Melbourne since its premiere on May 30, 2005, Temptation has featured more than 1200 contestants and given away more than $12.5 million in cash and prizes, including 22 Volvos worth over $1.4 million.

  1. I think its great that Temptation is back and I am not really accept that the show has ceased production.

itsross – I also picked up clues that it was filmed much eariler. During the first gift shop last night when tempting Ben, who would go on and become the new champion, with the TV, they were promoting the film 27 Dresses which was released nationwide on 10 January 2008.

  2. Wow the first episode back is really show its date (if you look carefully).

It featured a previous generation Macbook Air for RRP$2499 (it’s now RRP$2899) and Ed was later going on about how the cash one of the contests won would be a good start for the year, although viewers would just assume he meant for the 2009 new year I guess.

There were probably a lot more references but I’m not really paying attention, and the show hasn’t finished yet (playing at 530pm on NBN Newcastle.

  3. David, when were these episodes filmed? i seem to recall that Temptation was due to return in march but with the mind-numbing 2.5 men finding a labotomised audience over summer its only returning now?
