Oh no why did Christmas With the Kranks epically fail. It is the best movie, possibly my favourite of all time, whyyyy!!!
I went back over the ratings and at the start of the year House used to rate 1.4 million. Now it rated below 1 million… interesting.
Any OOTB figures ??
What summer poll? Ratings 2009 resume February 8. Don’t have any Survivor figures, sorry.
hey david can you start the summer poll again?
David what date does the ratings season begin again next year/
TT had the Lynn Spears special. I liked that.
Good to see people getting sick of 2.5 Men
TEN had a good Wednesday is comparison to all their other Wednesdays. House finally over the 1 million mark and Life rated really well, better than previous. Im sick of seeing Seven News and Today Tonight up there… they suck.
yes i agree david, plus we all know season finals rate better too and if they mess us around like this then from now on we will all think shows season finals aren’t actually finals and not bother watching. was houses a real season final? was rush?
Poor result for 2.5 Men considering the competition, I hope this is the beginning of the end for that shit. I guess they’ve just given up now they’ve lost the year.
Huge night to 7 with Air Crash winning it’s timeslot and Criminal Minds owning the 8.30 slot. The Unit had poor retention, but it did build over 100k compaed to last week. Prison Break did fairly well at 10.30, considering how much it has been screwed around.
Pleasantly surprised to see House over 1 mill and Life winning it’s timeslot. Futurama also up from two weeks ago, but still shocking.
i have looked at the poll now on the homepage and noticed ten and nine pretty much neck and neck for sumer programming but seven way up near 30 percent! i wanna know what is so good that channel 7 is gonna put on??? i have heard their line up and i consider it the worst in yrs for them,
looks like house picked up some of the spicks and specks audience. last night was the first episode of house i watched on tv all season as i normally prefer s&s.
Craig Nine are thinking about 2009. Why waste an ep of The Mentalist when the ratings year is practically over and they have won the two most important demos?
And about 2.5 Men remember it was a repeat so 1.25m is actually a very good result.
Good on Big Bang cracking 1 million, now maybe ch9 will keep it on over the summer to grow and stay on in 2009!
But what the hell was ch9 thinking pulling The Mentalist (which is still on in the US) for a crappy low rating xMas movie?
They should have had Fringe on.
House finally over the million!! Helped by Christmas with the Cranks being the opposition on ch9. Another ppor lead-in with Futurama but didnt matter this wk.
A big win for 7 on a wednesday night – CM and ACI plus news and TT big numbers. Happy with unit and PB numbers.
2.5men not as strong as usual, maybe ppl really are getting sick of it, we can only hope!! Wat will ch9 have, if (when) this show flops. They need to come up with almost 10 hrs per wk!
Watched Life last night for the first time since it started and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good to see it doing so well, but like House and CM it benefited from Nine’s crissy movie.
David, how did Survivor go?
David… Re the Rich List: I really think that Andrew O’Keefe is really fabulous and holds the audience captive. It is also one of the few shows you can win real money on these days. Do you know if Channel 7 are going to show the next series of Rich List they have already taped straight after this one?? Do you know if they are going to hold more auditions and tapings?
Thanks
Yes doubled – I was wondering how Survivor fared last night also. Any word David? At least 4 or 5 people came up to me today commenting on last night’s show – even in the 10.30pm timeslot.
Ryan, it’s very misleading to say Season Final yes. They should just say Final, which would indicate to viewers new eps are stopping. A Season Final is known for going out with a bang or cliffhanger.
Harry,
All Saints sh***s all over Rush, ratings-wise.
itsnt it false advertising david? saying ncis is the finale when there are so many eps to go??
Lol ‘sneaky’ is a nice way of sugar coating it.
February I suspect.
Thanks. do you know when its back on
Cos they are sneaky?
David, why did Channel ten advertise NCIS last nite as season finale when there is another 12 eps in season 6
Yes, comparatively to what Rafters usually gest it could be considered “bad”. But any other show would be dreaming for 1.8m to be it’s high, let alone it’s low.
i thought rafters did bad considering it was the finale and they lost neary 200,000 on the previous week. i would like to see rush at 8.30 on another day next yr!! ncis last night was amazing even though it wasnt the season finale as ten says!! and now it was an ep where it continues into the next 1 so it suks!! two and a half men suck! so boring and so over rated
Good numbers for the Rafters finale, by far the umer 1 show of 2008. All Saints finale was a bit meh, but the previews for next year looked amazing. Shame for Rush, but ten made a huge mistake thinking it would rate against an established aussie drama. NCIS also did very good against Rafters. 9 however have a woeful Tuesday, when repeats are central to their programming they dont deserve to do well.
Looks like another easy win for 7 this week.
How much did Survivor get?
Good number for NCIS. Seven dropped from last week but thats not a bad thing.
Rush should be rating more. It sh**s over All Saints! Hope it does better in its second season.
I think Sunrise will pick up with the addition of Fifi Box. Today has done really well this year, they’ve settled into a team that works finally.
I wouldn’t count Sunrise out though, i think you’ll find they stay on top. They just need to tone Kochie down a little. At the beingining people found it irreverent and fresh because Today was so stiff and rigid. Now I think it has peaked in terms of appeal and is at risk of being annoying if it is too cheesy. I still predict Sunrise continuing to lead. Everything Today is now has been a copy of Sunrise, so the originality will be what keeps it moving ahead.
Sounds like Summer is exactly what the Richlist needs to get back to the figures it used to get. Seven should consider it for a different night in ratings season though, maybe against something that has had its day but that Nine wont get rid of like Getaway.
Strange to see PTTR and FMF down last night. Seven will win the week easily all the same.
Did anyone see that little “Go Seven” promo last night. A little cheeky
After the first episode of Swift and Shift I sank the boot into the program and claimed poor ratings after a month would lead to the shows demise.
As with most things from Fenech team regardless of the naysayers Swift and Shift has not only held it’s ground in the ratings but improved to peak over 400 K plus veiwers.
I may have to book a courier to collect my pride.
Everytime I tune back into Sunrise Mel is never there. Has she left? I agree Today will probably overtake Sunrise unless something drastic is done.
90210? Not good for ten… did I hear right that they are kicking it off to HD?
Great Ratings for the ABC that Monday night…
And Whoa for Top gear!!
Great figures for The Rich List @ 1.210 million viewers!
However I can’t understand why the Top Gear (UK version) rates as well as it does in the same timeslot. Some of the road trips have been interesting but the studio episodes are losing their appeal.
Everyone get behind the Rich List because I want to audition for the third series, and so we all should to try to win some money. there’s not many oppurtunities like this anymore.
KAK and Today have been doing major catching up in the ratings. Sunrise is only 50k ahead of Today.
I really enjoyed last night’s GNW finale. Nice to see all the comedians in one place – nobody was trying to be funnier than anyone else. Had Hamish Blake been there I may not have been able to say that.
I agree, swap 90210 with Out Of The Blue but 90210 is on Sunday 7.30pm from now on so they cant. Thats unless 10 changes it all (which I hope they don’t). I like 90210 but I cant help but feel its all a bit too tryhard. Cut back the over the top storylines and dont make it too skanky, its a turn off.
As for Will & Grace; I dont understand why they are putting Friends on! I love Will & Grace and am disappointed its being axed.
Today Tonight and Seven News were the top 2… *rolls eyes*
For a show aimed at a very young demographic who know how to use the internet, it should have been a no-brainer to keep it in schedule, even if they must move it a bit. But by them taking it off so soon and without even telling people when or if it would return (fridays, but that didn’t happen), they should have expected those figures for 90210.
Here is a thought. If Out of The Blue can rate 477,000 and 90210 rate 480,000 why not swap them around and let aussies enjoy aussie shows. Clearly a no brainer idea!!
I think Ten only has itself to blame for 90210′s low numbers. A lot of people downloaded the episodes from the web although I think it will pick up in the next couple of weeks as the next episode in the US doesn’t air until 6 January so we will catch up to them again provided Ten doesn’t pull it or skip weeks between now and then.
wow. out of the blue just about matched 90210… and it’s on 3 hours later. will we see a switch?
90210 should be picking up at least 800,000 on that timeslot. Will be interesting to see it rate on Sunday Night.
sunrise wont be the number breakfast show anymore after this year. its going to be caught and passed with ease. people are just getting sick of kochie. he has a new joke book out now and their not even his jokes
Great to see The Rich List improve over the last few weeks, i thijk Seven would be happy with these figures, hopefully they green light a 3rd series, its a great show the whole audience can play along with
good news week’s finale was completely ruined by its terrible lead in. no show will ever do well with a lead in of 400k viewers in primetime.
10 needs to axe 90210 now! it obviously doesnt have a fan base in australia
Great to see Out of the Blue doing so well even with its challenging timeslot ! If it was primetime with roughly twice the viewer numbers, it would be doing better than a lot of what is on earlier (ie. 477 x 2 = 954)
Ouch! 90210 couldn’t even make half a million!
Top Gear UK was always going to rate high even though it’s now out of date with the plunging fuel prices.
Impressive ratings for Out of the Blue. Well deserved!
top gear UK, massive increase compared to Aussy version and Howard Years still doing well!
David,
Can you please tell me how ACA (Adelaide Edition) is going against TT? Has it gained in market audience since becoming a local version?
Wow, 90210 got mega low ratings. But i guess Ten have no reason to axe the show again, since rating period ends this week. I do hope they play out the season over the summer.
The Rich List did well, compared to the last few weeks.
No numbers for Neighbours? I quite enjoyed last nights episode, and theyre lame humour :p
so Sevens two movies helped it win the night, pulling up to a million each. Smart move having kath & kim at 6.30, starting right after the news, no ads.
thats bull ten should of 1 i think they just favour seven cose they didnt do that good
1.6 mill may seem a lot lower than the early years of Idol, but it did better than this year’s DWTS finale. Not bad for a show that’s been on air six years.
Although if I were Ten I’d be gutted that I still came third on the night – not even second!
Your right as always David, they do care but this late in the year I wouldnt be too bothered about it. TEN have had a really bad year and even if they had won the demo’s I doubt it would make much difference!
Not sure about in Aus, but NCIS skews incredibly old in the states – about 75% of viewers outside of 18-49, so that could be one contributing factor to the lower demos for the night.
Seven have this week in the bag already.
It certainly cares about winning the night in 16-39 when it has a biggie like Idol finale.
Nice figures for Idol. TEN doesnt care wether they win the night or not, Idol has been a huge success for them this year, especially compared to last year’s finale ratings. It was a great finale, most entertaining one ever in my opinion. Well Done and Im glad its back on next year!
NCIS did well but it was because Idol finished at 9.40 or something like that. TEN should be happy with those figures!
It’s been done by other networks on other ‘events’ too.
Was it really necessary for 10 to break idol’s figures into 3 parts? It’s the finale, and the finale is the one show, not 3. Well it appears they will do anything to artificially make the figures look higher.
how did Carlifornication and the office go
Einstein 757,000.
How did Einstein Factor go?
I think they’ll be content with those figures… they have no choice now, Idol has become more of a niche show, doesn’t have as expansive an audience as it once had… and I don’t think it ever will. That said, I reckon it’ll be around for a while yet, cos Ten really doesn’t have much else going for it….
It was definietly TGYH and The Simpsons that let down ten till 7.30. 9.30 onwards, more particularly 10.30 to 11.30 National Treasure was doubling the audience of Californication and whatever was on 9 – which is really where 7 won the night.
Despite the rain I think they pulled off a great Idol Final last night – it does help that i wanted Wes to win – but there was a great mix of other Aussie talent – and I say enough of the final 12 to be convinced that Luke well and truly deserved his place in the final 2.
Well Done!
These figures are preliminary as always and include overruns.
According to TEN an average 1.60 million viewers shared the final stage in Wes’s transformation to Australian Idol, as they watched The Winner Announced segment of the finale spectacular (21:06 – 21:44). A peak audience of 1.85.
Last year was 1.45m average but TEN did win the night.
yeah i found it weird considering idol won the slot from 7.30 till 9.40 and then was just behind from 9.40 onwards. i think it was the 6-7.30 where they got really hit
NCIS getting close to 1 Mill for a Sunday night re-run! and yes why didn’t 10 win the night or at least beat 9?
thats a pretty good figure for a show gone past 6 yrs! nearly 1.6 and im sure there was good peak figure for them.
haha seven won with old fashioned sunday movies. Sunday has gone full circle.
Ouch for Ten. Coming third in total people and losing the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 demo to 7 (over 55′s going to 9).
Having said that, it wasn’t so much Idol that let them down, it was more the repeated repeats around it.
Kath & Kim, unlike The Outdoor Room capitalised on the news lead in – another season of the Outdoor Room looks that little more grim. Over The Hedge did solid numbers, with National Treasure pulling massive demos and total people till almost 11.30.
60 Minutes held up well against the competiton
So the Idol final rated similar to what it did last year?
Whoa. Those Idol figures are low. And TEN didn’t win the night? Surely they won their precious demographics. Otherwise Oz Idol is in deep trouble…
