The ABC has taken two of the first awards at the Australian Film Institute’s annual gongs.

Enough Rope with Andrew Denton was awarded Best Light Entertainment Television Series and Blue Water High (Series 3) won Best Children’s Television Drama.

The win for Andrew Denton comes on the even of his final episode. On Monday night the acclaimed interview series draws to a close with final guests Ben Stiller and Wendy Whiteley one-time wife of Brett Whiteley.

At the craft awards at last night’s ceremony, the only other television prize was awarded for Outstanding Achievement in Television Screen Craft. It went to Steve Evans for editing on Underbelly.

Tonight the big awards are handed out with a cavalcade of stars.

    Denton deserves many accolades.
Racking brain now to find next decent interviewer around the networks and then a network brave enough to allow someone time to probe guests without being intrusive.
