Rudd the cricketing tragic

TV Tonight was on the spot when PM Rudd decided to become a cricketing commentator yesterday.

TV Tonight has been on the spot for some candid celebrity moments before, but was surprised to be on hand when none other than Prime Minister Kevin Rudd decided to become a guest cricket commentator for the Nine Network yesterday.

Flanking him was Shane Warne and former captain Mark Taylor -surely a who’s who at the MCG yesterday.

PM Rudd spent about twenty minutes in the media box at the cricket yesterday, watching the game between Australia and South Africa, and providing commentrary.

Following his solo forum hosting on Seven a few months ago, that’s at least two extra media skills he can add to his CV this year. If he follows in Warney’s path, he might even land himself a self-titled stage musical.

After all, it didn’t hurt Keating any…

  1. The guy knew how to engage the people through media before anyone pegged him as a potential PM. You don’t knock a musician when it turns out he can act or a street sweeper when he hosts a good Quiz Night, do ya?

(Incidentally, I didn’t exactly vote for Rudd and cricket bores me senseless, but I got nothing against pollies using their skills to engage the public in refreshingly different ways).

  2. I thought he did quite well; he made me laugh a few times and i was very skeptical when i heard him come into the commentary box. but he knows his cricket and I think i he did very well; especially since he must know how many people out there would be waiting for him to stuff up 😛
