SBS boss: “ABC wants to take us over.”
A line quoted in an article today is almost a line in the sand between SBS and ABC.
According to SBS boss Shaun Brown, ABC management harbours “a desire to take over SBS.”
Ouch.
If he’s been quoted correctly that’s a big statement.
Brown was responding to a report prepared for the ABC by the Boston Consulting Group that proposes four options of possible network mergers.
The paper, headed Project W, says a “high” integration scenario would deliver an annual benefit of $41 million: a combined organisation with integrated strategic direction, TV production, marketing and sales …
X Factor not dropping Dannii
In the UK there are stories on Dannii and The X Factor every second day. She’s leaving, she’s not leaving, she’s verbally abused by Sharon Osbourne, she’s fallen out of favour with Cowell…. they are regurgitated with such regularity that TV Tonight ignores the bulk of them.
Here’s one that sounds a little more definitive.
Simon Cowell’s publicist Max Clifford has insisted that the rumours are untrue.
“These kind of things are put about by unscrupulous journalists and media people who make up all kinds of stories all the time to sell newspapers,” he …

Life. Imagine. Leaked. Seriously.
It’s been a week for debating viral videos. What’s fake? What’s real? What’s a deliberate marketing ploy?
Now YouTube has two videos of new TEN station IDs.
Featuring several network personalities and actors, they are built around the theme of “Life. Imagine. Seriously.”
Natalie Bassingthwaighte is filmed in old Hollywood style, Paul McDermott is catching up on the latest newspaper stories and Rove McManus is meandering down the streets of Melbourne.
They are less “wow” and more thoughtful in tone. One is even backed with piano and strings, demonstrating a maturer start to the year.

Here we go again. Talk of another potential Underbelly courtcase, this time with the word “Defamation” attached. So far it’s all just that -talk.
Tom Domican, a former Labor party official and contruction industry consultant, 67, has engaged Sydney lawyer Greg Gould to also examine whether he has been defamed by the Nine Network in its promotion of the new TV series based on the book, about the gang bloodshed of the 1970s and 1980s.
