Bunney’s Logie sold on eBay

The 1974 Silver Logie for Best Actress, awarded to Number 96 performer Bunney Brooke, was sold on eBay yesterday for $2225.

Brooke died of cancer in Sydney at 80 in 2000 but it’s not known how her Silver Logie ended up with seller “hippopawn” based in Caboolture, Queensland. Both the seller and buyer remain a mystery.

“It came to us in the normal course of business,” was the only reply to an email says news.com.au

In Number 96 Brooke played ‘Flo’ neighbourly accomplice to the comic characters ‘Dorrie and Herb.’ She also appeared in The Young Doctors, A Country Practice, E Street and Round the Twist.

She later became Crawford’s casting director, coming full circle given she had been a typist with the production company before her acting career.

She was great character actress – not many around these days.
Seriously we need “hall of fame” or showcase to highlight old logiesor memorable things.

It makes me feel quite sad but hope that it finds its way into a TV Museum/collection somewhere. Bunney was a fantastic character actress.
