Gone: America’s Next Top Model, Army Wives

It's a bad day for shows that have already aired on Pay TV as TEN drops Tyra Banks and her model proteges.

Updated: TEN shifts ANTM to a late night slot.

Channel TEN has dropped America’s Next Top Model from its schedule effective immediately.

The reality series was airing on Sunday and Monday nights. It will replace it with a movie on Sunday night (which also bumps Don’t Forget the Lyrics out for the night).

On Sunday the show managed just 403,000 viewers.

Monday nights it will be replaced by repeats of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?

TEN also drops Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Army Wives from its Monday line-up next week.

Sunday January 11
6:30pm Sunday Night Movie – Aquamarine
8:35pm Sunday Night Movie – Die Hard With A Vengeance
11:10pm The Daily Show With Jon Stewart – Global Edition
11:40pm The Office
12:10am Cops
12:40am Video Hits Up-Late
1:00am Home Shopping

Monday January 12
7:30pm Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader
8:30pm Monday Night Movie – Double Jeopardy
10:40pm Out Of The Blue
11:10pm TEN Late News With Sports Tonight
11:55pm The Late Show With David Letterman
12:55am Video Hits Up-Late
1:00am Home Shopping

Criminal Intent repeats remain in place Thursday nights at 9:30pm.

The dropping of ANTM, which has already screened on FOX8, is the second “Pay to FTA” show to be dropped this week. Maybe it’s time to stop scheduling shows that have already aired on subscription TV?

  1. I am so upset about this. It is just not fair to those people who have been watching this series of ANTM and also Don’t forget the Lyrics. I was looking forward to sitting down and watching those shows tonight as they are the only thing on during this non-rating period that I have enjoyed watching. At least finish something or let the viewers know what you are doing instead of just taking it off the air and we have no idea what has happened. I won’t be watching TV tonight. Thanks Channel 10 for nothing!!!

  2. Ch 10 you have lost me.

Honestly!! Then the stupid networks wonder why no one watches TV anymore.

From now on i will be downloading all TV shows i enjoy, because the pathetic networks can’t just finish a series, or they move it around so many times you have no idea when its on any more. Its not even ratings season for F’s sake.

Commercial TV is well an truely dead to me.

  3. i can not believe ch10 taking ANTM off the time slot, this is crap….
just to let everyone nose… ANTM the cycle that is on ch10 at the moment was the best episode and its get better each cycle because i just finish cycle 11and that was really good.

  4. of course they’d take it off; its one of my fave shows :S this and Gossip Girl gone; what’s next?

If they’re gonna take shows off, why dont they replace them with other shows since they’re so fond of bumping shows rather than putting crappy movies on :S Why not give The Office a run at 7.30 just to see how it goes?? :S;S Guess this is something else I’ll be downloading :S

  5. I’m really scared about the future of In Plain Sight. I was completely surprised by how good it was and can’t imagine not watching it each week. I’m sure it’ll be gone by ratings period but if they take it off before that, I’ll be seriously pissed (again).

  6. Networks – please!!
    1. If you are going to put on a show that has already been on Foxtel or out for a while being able to be downloaded then you will get low ratings. Pretty obvious to me!
    2. If you do put on one of these shows, then at least for the loyal audience it attracts, finish the series for them. Just look at the complaints you are getting!
    3. Taking shows off mid season like this simply jeopardises your chance for starting any new series as viewers simply won’t make the commitment knowing there is a chance it will be off at some stage.
    4. Non-ratings season does not mean what it used to. The fact that we can right now look up ratings right here means there is still reporting, and therefore revenue for advertisers based on these figures. Therefore program changes in summer as well.
    5. New content is better than endless repeats. Better to have on a show never before seen on your network (even if it has been on Foxtel) then repeats of shows that you have already shown.
    6. And for the record, my wife would be watching ANTM on 10 if she had not seen it on FOX8 before!!!

  7. Channel 10 you suck! If they quit moving ANTM around like a freaking jumping jack, they might have a chance to get some solid ratings!

Does anyone have an email address we can complain to or is it only by mail/phone?

  8. OMG! u cant take off ANTM?!! we need to see who wins? hey not everyone can bloody afford pay TV – this is pathetic!! Bring it back!!!!

I am not impressed Channel 10. its a non rating season FFS! Get off your high horse, we have already recently seen fifth grader who wants to watch that crap again? Bring back ANTM!!!!

  9. Ten have absolute contempt for their viewers by dropping ANTM from the schedule mid-season. At least they could schedule the remaining episode in an off peak slot (weekend afternoons maybe). I don’t watch the show (not my cup of tea), but cutting it mid season just makes no sense.

Like others, the tv networks scheduling last year means I get most of my (non Australia) content from other sources. Let’s hope ten and nine get their act together for the rest of the year. Their summer rating changes are just not on.

  10. Just checked in Sunday TV guide from Sundays Herald Sun both Gossip Girl &Army Wives listed as Must See TV for this week – Kiss of death.
they list 5 must watch – 2 get canned.
Army Wives like In Plain Sight have been my 2 highlights on Ten’s summer schedule.

  11. What?

One of the few things left on Ten’s sched worth watching.

This is starting to feel like Ten is working themselves into the end of their run.

    Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes.

  12. Had an another look at the advance guide, and seems I was a little optimistic – Law & Order on Friday next week is actually listed as a double repeat (no Numbers rerun at 8:30pm). Reruns galore!

I also notice next weeks Rush encore screens at 11:35pm Saturday instead of 9:30pm Wednesday…replaced by House – why bother Ten?

  13. Peter, i recall that holby blue was bumped, dance machine was bumped, dirty sexy money was bumped, kath and kim bumped, ugly betty trimmed down to once per week. I’m sure there were more. That was all in under 1 month. So i must disagree.

  14. If Bold wasnt on at 6pm, the only new content Ten would be airing next week in primetime before 10:30pm would be Lyrics (Thurs 7:30pm) and Law & Order (Friday 9:30pm)…

At least Ten didn’t just chuck on The Simpsons on Mondays I guess.

  15. Ten – question for you – what are you thinking ?
1/ The season of ANTM that was on air on Ten was season (cycle 8) from Feb 2007 only 4 seasons ago.
2/ Why axe a show to show repeats ? especially Smarter than 5th grader – old quiz shows hardly interest many…
3/ Why take off Army wives (one of the shows I have enjoyed over summer and from talk around impressed many)
Ten’s first change of 2009 seems dumb to me.
