WA: 50 years of TV

A group of retired Perth TV industry professionals is looking for people who worked in WA television to help celebrate its 50th year.

2009 marks the 50th year of television in Western Australia. The first transmission in Perth took place on October 16, 1959, when Channel Seven flickered on to screen.

The Australian Museum of Motion Picture Technology will hold an four-month exhibition at the Fremantle History Museum from September celebrating the golden anniversary of the small screen. To help celebrate, a group of retired Perth television industry employees is trying to locate and archive the details of all people who worked in Perth and regional TV stations, and support industries, since that time, as well as memorabilia.

Anyone wanting to help should contact Ken McKay on 08 9310 8062 or Derric Wright on 08 9276 1450.
