Airdate: Chuck

By David Knox on March 19, 2009 / Filed Under Pay TV 12

zachary-levi-chuck-bartowskiFoxtel has rescheduled Chuck, after originally planning it to debut in January.

Zachary Levi stars as Chuck Bartowski–a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government’s most vital secret agent.

In a lively plot, Chuck opens an e-mail subliminally encoded with government secrets, he unwittingly downloads an entire server of sensitive data into his brain. The fate of the world lies in the unlikely hands of a guy who works at an Electronics store. Instead of fighting computer viruses, Chuck must confront assassins and international terrorists.

The series is created by Josh Schwartz (The OC, Gossip Girl), and is now well into its second series in the US.

It premieres at 8:30pm Wednesday April 1st on FOX8.

Season 1 of Chuck is out June 3 and is listed at Ezydvd. At least those without pay can watch or if you forget. Big Bang Theory season 1 is also out the same day and Pushing Daisies out next month.

At least the show is getting aired in Australia finally.

I don’t think saying Chuck is a poor performer in the ratings is entirely correct.

It’s not the most popular show of all time, although performs well, and at the end of season one (when nine would have made the decision?) it was performing very well with a rapidly increasing audience.

I’m basing this off of tvbythenumbers.com

I agree 9 never even gave this show a shot but if they have over summer they would have shown it for a month before disappearing from our screens. This is one of my top must see shows and it’s great Fox8 is now giving it a go and will show the season in full!

One of my favourite shows around these days.

It was odd the way it was dumped, but then the networks just want reality gardening shows, not to cater to the valuable demographics.

Now allt hey need is to start showing Reaper!

Nine dumped it because the show rates fairly poorly for NBC in the US and there’s been talk it may get cancelled. Nevertheless, since it has an Aus actor in the cast, Nine could’ve at least given Chuck a go over the summer recess and moved it to a 10.30 pm timeslot (like Gossip Girl) if it didn’t perform that great, ratings wise.

A fantastic show. Everyone I know who has been introduced to it loves it. I couldn’t believe 9 never ended up airing it. Here’s hoping it does really well on Foxtel and 9 realise what a mistake they made.
