America on The Chopping Block

This week the USA gets its own, modified version of Channel Nine's reality series.

chopblock1America gets it very own version of Nine’s The Chopping Block this week.

The modified local version airs on March 11th. Created by Julian Cress and David Barbour, the show will be closer to My Resturant Rules with two teams installed into vacant city sites, side by side in Manhattan, competing to win $250,000.

The contestants will have less than a week to design and makeover each space, plan a menu and attract a crowd on opening night. Both restaurants will be competing for the same customers.

The show is hosted by Marco Pierre White, an English chef and restaurateur.

“Before you kill something, think about it,” Marco says amid interspersed snippets of cooking contestants driven to the edge of despair. “Kill something for the right reasons. Kill it to eat it.”

Once again, food critics will be assigned to observe the chaos that inevitably unfolds on opening night, and return with the reviews.

Cress and Barbour, who developed The Block, The Chopping Block and Nine’s upcoming Home Run, followed David Gyngell to the US several years ago after a falling out with Nine management.
