Domestic Blitz axed?

There are unconfirmed reports that Nine's renovation show hosted by Scott Cam and Shelley Craft has been axed.

domesticbTV Tonight is hearing unconfirmed reports that production staff on Nine’s Domestic Blitz were advised the show was given its marching orders yesterday.

This week the makeover show was just pipped by TEN’s Biggest Loser, but nudged ahead of Seven’s new Sunday Night show.

The week before it hovered around 1m viewers. The show, which incorporates plenty of sponsor products, is down about 500,000 on its 2008 figures.

Nine has several other feelgood shows in the pipeline. Late last year Nine CEO David Gyngell recently said, “There’s a substantial sea change in recent times as the economy gets tougher and viewers look to comfort.

“I think people increasingly relate to their communities.”

But more recently media analyst Steve Allen said, “It’s dead, viewers are just over it now. It’s too over the top.”

Giaan Rooney’s Battlefronts also fell out of favour with viewers. Domestic Blitz is hosted by Scott Cam and Shelley Craft.

Nine is likely to have several episodes in the can. If the rumour proves true it remains to be seen whether it will run them out or hold off.

UPDATED: The Sunday Telegraph refers to whispering campaign on DB adding that a Nine source indicated programming for 2010 was ‘yet to be finalised’ and network bosses were ‘happy with the (lesser) returns for the makeover series.’

  1. So I’m to late to give hints (clear instructions) to my friends and family. I diserve a make-over and I leave the fancy catalogs unintentionally on the table.

    😉

  2. I think domestic blitz is a really good program and should not be axed, i love watching domestic blitz and the amazing makeovers they do for people who really deserve them. Domestic blitz always brings a tear to my eye when i watch it because they make so many people so happy and give them a great new enviroment to live in. I think the show should stay because there are so many other people out there that need there support, i think they have the greatest jobs to be able to help so many people that are struggling or have lost somebody or been through something that has changed there life.

  3. I really hope the show doesn’t get axed, I love watching the show every Sunday. The creativity and style the team portray is just amazing. The only thing I can think of is if the television network put the show on a different day. Monday is a good day for there isn’t much to watch after 7.30pm, only investigation killing american programs. Come on Aussies, support australian realtiy tv shows!!!
