tga9And here is your first look at the refreshed cast of Top Gear Australia, with new presenter James Morrison.

Morrison, in place of Charlie Cox, hasappeared as a guest in an episode already. The musician is also known as a motoring buff and has previously hosted Behind the Wheel.

SBS executive Matt Campbell has previously said, “We now look forward to seeing James Morrison on our screens when the series returns in 2009. James brings with him a deep love of cars, a huge personality and a strong sense of fun – a perfect complement to Warren and Steve.”

As pictured Warren Brown and Steve Pizzati are returning.

While the first series didn’t attract the ratings of the UK original, it still pulled a big audience for the network.

The second season return in early May.

The UK version of Top Gear didn’t just appear overnight. It took time to evolve into the wonderful show it is. The Australian version has been forced and it shows. Frankly, we can do without it.

Can’t wait. Hopefully they improve a fair bit even though it was an OK effort last year. Morrison will be good as he will be more natural unlike Charlie Cox who was reading from a script the whole series.

I hope that adding morrison, who will bring his personality to it, will mean the other guys will be more themselves than the roles.

It is so funny, SBS running 7 year old EPS of the UK version in order to let us down softly when the new Aust TG season begins. They have to show all the old, not very slick years of TG otherwise Aust TG would suffer badly (or even worse than it already does) when compared to TG of the last few years.

Running old EPS is pretty transparent SBS and won’t make the Aust version look any less cheap, nasty or improve the humorless hosts (even if they have hired that humorless short, bald, fat git to replace the humorless tall, grey git).

yeah, I’m looking forward to this returning, as it seems like they’ve taken onboard some (well ok, at least one) of the criticisms from last season. I just hope they dont try tooooooo hard to replicate the uk version.
