ONE ratings from April

OzTAM will be reporting data on viewing via ONE from April 12th.

one-waveOzTAM has announced it will be reporting audience ratings for ONE in both HD and SD from April 12.

The ratings company will report the data when ONE broadcasts original programmeing -shows which do not screen on TEN. Programmes on both will be ‘merged’ to give a result for one title, which is the current practice

OzTAM’s CEO Kate Inglis-Clark, said: “We are pleased to offer this enhancement to OzTAM’s service and provide a detailed picture of viewing to ONE.

“Throughout this process, OzTAM has worked closely with TEN and our service provider AGB Nielsen Media Research and kept the industry informed to ensure we meet our subscribers’ needs and accurately reflect actual viewing.”

OzTAM says it expects to report timeshift viewing of free-to-air and subscription television channels at the start of 2010.

  1. Stephen it will turn up late (for some this year and others late this year or even later!!!)

Suggestions are August at the moment for existing digital SC10 areas. No word for present analogue only areas.

Jimmy, there’s a waiting list trying to find out if Tennis will turn up as previosuly mooted but not promised

  2. Can anybody tell me if One HD will actually turn up in regional areas?

Ten HD has plenty of stuff on but good old Southern Cross HD in regional victoria has 24×7 pictures of trees & some funky guitar music (which I could look out my window at).

  3. should be interesting to see the rating for one although oztam should have be releasing rating for all multichannels from launch, should also be interesting to compare the rating of afl when the same match is shown on both ten and one.

  4. but since it is the first channel of its kind how will we know what audience numbers are good and what are bad? i think 10 will make out like they are all good for a while, it won’t be until we get the 7 and 9 extra channels that we can get a real picture of what people want to watch.

  5. sorry for my igorance, but if ONE is a digital / HD channel, and if the ratings are going to be using the same people/groups for ratings calculation, won’t there be a percentage of people not watching simply because they dont have digital reception? And if thats the case, wont the ratings mechanism need to change? And if thats the case, shouldn’t they think about factoring in people who record their shows, download etc?

  6. Hi Jimmy,

In the original press release Ten did announce that they would have some Tennis tourtaments, but I am not sure if that’s true anymore since they haven’t said anything on the One info page at the Ten site.
