The good oil on Ladettes

Is it possible for something good to come out of Aussie Ladette to Lady? Maybe, just maybe...

One of the girls from the series Nicole Mitchell, who entered the show labelled as a King’s Cross stripper, says she is disappointed several of her castmates have given racy magazine shoots since leaving the series.

“If you read the article, it sort of upset me a bit,” Mitchell told the Brisbane Times. “They went through that experience at a really high-class finishing school and came out like nothing has changed.”

Mitchell, on the other hand, has given up her job stripping in Kings Cross clubs and has vowed never to revert to her old ways.

“I used to think I was nothing,” she says. “Now I feel I am important. I have so much self-confidence and respect.”

Another story this week noted that at the reunion last month at the Sebel Hotel the ladettes apparently enjoyed a topless romp in the hotel swimming pool at 1.30am, throwing objects from windows and trashing a hotel room, resulting in a cleaning bill worth several hundred dollars. According to the Canberra Times, the hotel complained to Nine, which promised a written apology that could be passed onto offended hotel guests.

For Mitchell, however, the TV show proved her salvation because it brought her under the spell of Eggleston Hall’s dour principal, Mrs Harbord who taught her “not to sell yourself cheap”.

“She believed in me,” Mitchell says. “I was copping a lot of criticism for what I thought was OK behaviour [so finally I thought] maybe what I’m doing every normal person wouldn’t do … drinking all my money away in one day, trying to take my clothes off in public places. [The show] brought myself into reality to say this isn’t normal.”

  1. Nicol is definitelly a lady now. Her behavious when she first came to Eggleston Hall was disguasting and embarrasing for Australia. There was no way i would have gone to the UK knowing that they aired this show over there because they wouldn’t think much of us as they would probably stereotype all the girls and think they all acted like that.

Now i’d be proud to go to the UK and say i’m from Australia. Nicole has undergone a massive transformation and she is definitelly a lady… no doubt about that. Congrats Nicole 🙂

  2. Good on you, Nicole… I found the show very entertaining/funny, and, to be honest, didn’t want you to come first, but, in hindsight, I was wrong, and the staff of Eggleston Hall definitely made the right decision 🙂 …
