tbl9West Australian Bob Herdsman has won the fourth series of The Biggest Loser and wins $200,000 in cash.

57 year old Bob becomes the oldest-ever contestant winner after shedding a record-breaking 87.6kg, and 52.21% of his body weight -more than any contestant across four series and half of his own body weight.

“On behalf of the half that’s here it feels great!” he said.

He defeated his 27-year-old daughter-in-law Tiffany who lost 47.62% of her body weight and took home $30,000.

“We didn’t set out to beat anybody, only ourselves,” he said.

Queenslanders Sharif Deen came third winning $20,000, with Sammy Fisher fourth and taking home $10,000.

tbl1The series shows no signs of slowing down for TEN, despite a troubled start with host AJ Rochester in the news. On Sunday night it managed an impressive 1.48m viewers.

tbl10The finale was somewhat upstaged by News Limited newspapers which broke an embargo and published the name of the winner at 8:48pm -almost two hours before the winner was announced on air. It’s the second time in a week a major embargo was broken by journalists after an accidental leak of the ASTRA Awards.

AJ Rochester invited Australians to apply for the next series of The Biggest Loser: Couples for 2010.

  4. Amazing television – my fave TV night of the year! Amanda singing was just unbelievable and should be remembered as a moment of television! Congratulations to all the contestant – Bob, Tiff and Sammy – well done!

  5. Congrats to Bob. I knew he would win. Would’ve been great to see Tiffany win though. TBL: Couples was enjoyable.
    Though I’m surprised they still have AJ Rochester as the host when she was in the news, I would’ve thought they change hosts.

  6. Well done to Bob, so happy that such a gentleman won.

    Now all they need to do to make this show better in 2010 is sack AJ. After four years she should be a much much better host than she currently is. Please channel 10 do not renew her contract!! And stop with the recaps!

  7. i have to say for once all four people in the finale were decent honest people who all deserved to win good on ya bob and tiff and sharief is a legend top guy and sammy was just a cool chick. I really enjoyed the show this year. Excellent well done ten well done.

  8. I thought Sharif was going to win, but considering the stupid “nothing” bracelet, I’m so glad he didn’t. And gosh, he looks so handsome now he has a jawline and no facial hair. hmm

  9. I would’ve preferred it if someone who was shown on the daily episodes had won, rather than someone sequestered away on the island, and a woman winning would have really made it. But I guess you can’t cheat the statistics.

    I am amazed by some of the transformations, though. Good work.

  10. what a fanastic finale !!…i’m so glad Bob won (worthy winner and seems like a real nice guy) and yes Tiff looked fanastic.. i loved it when she came out looking all glamourous and sashayed her way to meet AJ.. talk about a changing of the guard !!…looked like she might get a hosting gig for next year.

    The show was great and all the contestants did a fantastic job.

  12. A Huge Congrats to Bob! i have been watching – The Biggest Loser Couples right from the beggining and i have always liked Bob the most he is an inspiration and Tiffany aswell, Congrats to all the Winners! Excellent finale!

    won at fitsroy island bob should not of won!!!!!!!

  16. That’s horrible when it gets leaked like that. It’s for that reason that I believe all major finale shows should be done live, to stop this thing happening.

    Needless to say, the show tonight was fantastic and I’m quite shocked that Bob lost so much weight. He’s lost 119% of my body weight!
