Loser finale set to be winner

TEN tweaks its titles for the Loser finale next week, which will help it look rosier afterwards.

shannmichTEN sneakily brands its Biggest Loser finale into two titles The Biggest Loser Finale and The Biggest Loser- Winner Announced.

This is a common ploy used by networks for “event programming” including AFL Grand Final and Australian Idol.

While it won’t change TEN’s evening share next Monday, it does look nice on publicity material, especially at the end of the year when a network can land more titles high on annual lists.

So for the record, next Monday night it’s:

7:00pm The Biggest Loser
7:30pm MasterChef Australia
8:30pm The Biggest Loser Finale
10:00pm The Biggest Loser – Winner Announced
10:30pm TEN Late News With Sports Tonight

Meanwhile there is some trashy talk about the show’s host today that you can read here.

  1. With both The Biggest Loser finale and Underbelly on at the same time and night, all I can say is: sorry Seven! But I predict UB will drop even further (although a drop from an already amazing 1.8mill is nothing to whinge about!). Not so sure about DH. It could really tank or could manage to hover around 1 mill as usual.

  2. Probably done this way so Underbelly viewers can come over, and the 10pm show can be seen as winning its time slot.

Best way to watch shows like Idol and Dance is to record and fast forward through excessive fillers and chatter – saves so much time. American Idol results show for example can be watched in around 10 minutes and maintain the same suspence and entertainment value.

  3. Hillary.. I don’t think GNW have recorded a show for that day, because they knew the BL finale would be there.. In any case GNW doesn’t exactly rate that well as it is, let alone making scheduling rearrangments for it.. It’ll be on the week after though, back in their usual studio 🙂

  4. It’s bad enough that Ten stretch 5 minutes of television into 50 on weeknights for 12 weeks, without making the last 5 minutes go 2 and a half hours.

David, isn’t there an ACMA rule we could use that would see roughly a third of TBL classified as a repeat ?
