Returning: Top Gear Australia

The second, revamped season of Top Gear Australia returns with James Morrison next month.

jamesmorrisonThe second season of SBS’s Top Gear Australia returns on Monday, 11 May at 7.30pm.

Joining Steve Pizatti and Warren Brown is new host James Morrison, replacing Charlie Cox.

Morrison has previously said, “As a huge fan of the show, you couldn’t ask for better blokes to be working with than Warren and Steve – this is going to be FUN! I don’t want to sound like I’m blowing my own trumpet… but I think series two is going to be bigger and better than ever – I just hope some of the challenges include playing a chorus of the blues!”

Warren Brown also said, “I’m as excited as anyone to be knocking around with James on the next series of Top Gear Australia. As everyone knows, he’s a red-hot hand behind the wheel, an unrepentant, unreconstructed and unabashed car enthusiast – but more importantly he’s a bloke with whom it’s huge fun to be around.”

  1. The only thing about that show that did not make me cringe was Warren.
The other two were just doing impersonations of their pommie counterpart.
    They really stuffed it up.

  2. The UK series returns late June. Given that the aussie one should only go for 6 episodes, here’s hoping SBS sees sense and shows it immediately (which should work as it airs on a sunday night in the UK).

  3. Although it will never be as good as the original, I plan on watching without trying to compare it.
It needs to be watched on its own merits without any pre-conceived ideas or comparisons.

    Hope it rates well.

  4. I for one can’t wait for the new season, I will miss the ‘classic’ shows from 5 years ago and hope SBS brings them back when the local season is done. Better still run both series together on different night, I’m sure it would help the ratings.

BTW is there any news on the US version, weren’t they making one?

and when is the UK original coming back in the UK?

  5. Bigger and better than season one? Hell, “Mass For You At Home” is bigger and better than season one of Top Gear Australia.

Sorry guys, but Top Gear = Clarkson, Hammond and May. There is no substitute.

And with SBS threatening staff cuts due to lack of money, why is this even being produced at all?
