Agree with Andrew B about Hot seat! I IQ it and just watch questions – if I don’t know I find it out – If I do know I keep going forward! Forgot how much Eddies chat annoys me. Poor 9 :(

what a huge boost for seven news saturday never have I seen 1.6million since the olympics helped them with sat boost for news and its only about 1.3 and under so great to see billy connelys new show get a huge ratings boost nearly to 1.3 and even k&k and the vicar both got a boost in the ratings around a million each and the anzac day afl did well for ten as well and thats a wrap for seven for another win the ratings.

The last time i saw figures for Judge Judy, it was somewhere between 300-400k.

  5. nelly April 25, 2009 at 10:52 pm -

me wonders how well judge judy rates … the ppl r real, the cases r real, the rulings r final!

  6. Rutzie April 25, 2009 at 9:59 pm -

Jed the AFL isn’t shown in Brisbane and Sydney until late Friday so you can’t really say it screened in 5 cities plus BH&Gardens rates to well for Seven.

rove is going to be so awesome on sunday, live after party!! and gretel!! and judges and natalie and dancers!! cant wait!!

  8. Andrew B April 25, 2009 at 5:28 pm -

With everyone having remotes these days, I really don’t see the importance of lead ins – a show will do well regardless of what is on before it. I don’t know anyone (and never have) who watches just the one channel from 5.30 onwards, most people flick between channels. Alot watch both Neighbours and Home and Away for example.

  9. Xavier April 25, 2009 at 3:55 pm -

hmm medium might be bad for ten when it switches to thursday night! great show!

  10. David Knox April 25, 2009 at 2:08 pm -

Nothing on ONE made Friday’s Top 100 sorry.

  11. Travodo88 April 25, 2009 at 2:02 pm -

Hi- Do you have any figures for the IPL on ONE last night?
Aso any for the NBA on ONE?

“11 The Simpsons Fri Ten 888,000
12 The Simpsons Fri Ep 2 Ten 881,000″

Not bad for Simpsons repeats. Especially since the new eps were basically rating the same on Fri. Now new eps are getting over a mill just for putting them on another day. It says it all – a smart programming decision. Pity about Law and Order and Medium, though.

  13. George April 25, 2009 at 1:06 pm -

    @Andrew B

Yes, the demos are good and all, but the shows after Neighbours might rate better if they had better leadins. Going from 700/800k to 1.1-1.2mil is a pretty mean feat (Neighbours into Biggest Loser) but if there was say a 1 mil leadin, the ratings may be better yet.

And talking about Neighbours.. Something needs to be done with that show to improve it. I haven’t watched it for months now (except for a few mins while waiting for Biggest Loser), nor has anyone I knew who watched it.

  14. Jed April 25, 2009 at 11:57 am -

NRL is shown in 2 cities. AFL shown in all 5 cities, and the NRL beats AFL in the ratings. Perhaps its because the NRL is shown Live. Are you listening Channel 7?

  15. Nick April 25, 2009 at 11:31 am -

Yeh but deal is more exciting! The process of elimination and chance, not knowing whats going to happen. Plus think about which audience would be better to be in, an audience where you get to scream out to the contestant whether to take or reject the deal, or just sittin quietly, laughin at eddies stale jokes having to sit through six people answering questions. Answering questions isn’t that more interactive, and in the end, we ain’t gettin the money so who cares whats interactive, whatever rates more is the main thing and it looks like deal has maintained its position.

  16. Andrew D April 25, 2009 at 11:26 am -

ten should just show movies on friday nights. medium and now law and order are not working.
im sure repeats of mean girls and billy elliot will rate better. lol

  17. Andrew B April 25, 2009 at 11:08 am -

@ Benno: Wonder if that would have been edited out in regional markets where ACA is on at 7pm and there is no 2.5 Men daily.

  18. David Knox April 25, 2009 at 10:49 am -

Big Momma’s House 291,000 for Mel / Perth.

Seven now 1% in front of Nine for the week in total share, one night to go.

Wow that is an extraordinary figure for Brisbane for the 1st NRL game – more than Sydney, that’d make it number 1 for the week.

Seems 10 is also winning 4-5pm over 7 and 9. Shame these hours don’t count.

9 needs some quality programming in AFL states to pull their Friday figures up.

I was walking past the TV last night when ACA was on (i really wanted to turn it off, but that would have started an argument…), where there was a segment on Charlie Sheen, and i said that i bet that they will plug 2 1/2 men at the end, and what would you know? “And 2 1/2 men airs right after A Current Affair on nine”!

  21. Aaron April 25, 2009 at 10:20 am -

David, do you know the ratings for Big Moma’s House 2 that was on Friday night on Nine?

  22. Aaron April 25, 2009 at 10:18 am -

    @ Nick,

How can you say that DOND is an interactive show for people at home? Wow, people can say “deal” or “no deal.” What brains is necessary to do that.

The Hot Seat is way more interactive as you can answer the questions.

  23. Andrew B April 25, 2009 at 12:31 am -

@ George – why would they – Ten wins 5-6 convincingly and Simpsons at 6 wins its target demo every night, as does Neighbours at 6.30 and Loser at 7. Its not always about the overall win.

FYI – best way to watch hotseat is on fast forward – you can easily answer the questions in a few seconds without listening to all the meaningless chatter.

  24. George April 24, 2009 at 11:49 pm -

I reckon TEN should seriously consider changing TEN News at Five to being at 5:30-6:30.. They’re loosing viewers on the Simpsons so then it has to climb up again whereas if it was a leadin to Neighbours ratings would probably be over 900k each night (and seeing as TEN News at Five is constantly rating between 900k and over 1 mil..).

Also Nine have failed severely with Hot Seat. I’ve watched a couple of times, and as much as I enjoy watching game shows to scream the answer at the TV and watch the contestent get it wrong, Hot Seat is just pretty boring really. Temptation was much better, and I dreaded that show.
That being said, Deal or No Deal isn’t much better either.. Andrew is so annoying! Hopefully this new games show Seven are making will be a bit better and replace Deal or No Deal.

poor old ed’s television days are over…

  26. Madde April 24, 2009 at 7:46 pm -

Great to see the new simpsons getting the million mark!

    Definately Must See TV!

  27. Harry April 24, 2009 at 4:00 pm -

SVU and Loser great numbers. Life On Mars has failed TEN.

  28. Nick April 24, 2009 at 3:22 pm -

The format of the hot seat is pretty crap. The intensity on deal is what is the most appealing, plus the audience interaction. Viewers can participate at home, u say deal or no deal, whether its a good risk to keep goin or be safe and take the deal. Plus O’Keefe is a better personality, heaps of people hate Eddie. When hot seat is yanked they should put on Seinfeld and the Nanny

  29. Diane April 24, 2009 at 12:41 pm -

What the hell do people see in Deal or No Deal?

Its boring as hell and you can’t participate at home. You can have a go at the questions at home on Hot Seat…

  30. Andrew B April 24, 2009 at 12:29 pm -

I too expected Hot Seat to fail like it is, as I have said in other posts as the format is fundamentally flawed and Eddy talks too much. But I still believe they’d be better off leaving it on rather than going back to Antiques.

  31. ella April 24, 2009 at 11:17 am -

well i always thought that millionaire would be considered a big flop but i didn’t think it would happen this bad so fast.

exactly this happened last time millionaire was tried at 5:30, what were 9 expecting this time.

when a network does something seemingly stupid and it fails i can kind of understand because they get points for trying and there was a possibility for sucess. but when they make the same mistake again and it gets the same disappointing result you really have to wonder what they are using for brains.

  32. tommyk April 24, 2009 at 11:07 am -

Andrew B, yes millionaire is doing slightly better than antiques repeats, but remember those antiques numbers were from 5pm-6pm in most states. so i’d say they are about the same, if not antiques did better. also millionaire has dropped significantly over the past 4 days over the next 3 weeks i’m sure it will drop much further and could do long term damage to the news/antiques return.
no matter which way you look at it millionaire has been a masterflop already by day 4.

  33. Jerome April 24, 2009 at 10:57 am -

Anderw B i’m sorry but hot seat is doing terribly.

it has been more of a flop than million dollar wheel. wheel had dropped to 550k when they decided to axe it after 3 weeks and millionaire is at 530 after 4 days.

Even in melbourne hot seat is 50k behind deal. also note that not only does deal smash it everywhere at 5:30 but M.A.S.H beats it in brisbane at 5:00. that’s got to hurt.

and the fact that we can say this after 4 days imagine how bad it will be after 4 weeks.

  34. Andrew B April 24, 2009 at 10:34 am -

Although Hot Seat is low, its still better than Antiques was getting and they should let it run its course of 20 shows now, and then try something else there – it’d be the perfect time to get their magazine show on. But knowing the limitations of any logical thought with 9 programming, I would place money on Antiques being back on at 5.30 after Hot Seat goes off.

  35. Andrew B April 24, 2009 at 10:32 am -

With 20-1 now on twice a week, the Thur ratings will drop. ACA very bad result, while ABC news way up.

With such low figures for 4.30 news, I can’t understand why they bother. Even at 4.30, 7 news in front. Looks like most people wait for 5 or 6 for news.

  36. Tony April 24, 2009 at 10:30 am -

I agree with Earthquake. Channel 10 is notorious for running promos over end credits. Some people actually like to read the credits and maybe hear the music as well. Stop doing it!

  37. Anthony S April 24, 2009 at 10:02 am -

Not looking good for the Hot Seat, dropped 43,000 viewers nationally over night. Deal is still 240,000 ahead so seven can breathe a sigh of relief! By the end of next week the Hot Seat will be gone!!

  38. Jake April 24, 2009 at 9:55 am -

Q&A on ABC1 is doing pretty well. Only 100,000 behind Life On Mars and 200,000 behind Private Practice.

  39. Earthquake April 23, 2009 at 7:36 pm -

    Why did Ten bother?

In the EPG they state that Fall Out Boy was guest starring on The Simpsons. I watched the whole episode only to find they were playing the end credits. (I’m not a huge fan of them, but still would have liked to have listened to their version of The Simpsons theme) Bart says (paraphrasing) “Ladies and gentlemen… Fall Out Boy!” – they start playing the FOB version of the theme and then suddenly the credits get squashed to the bottom of the screen, the audio is muted and a promo for next week’s episode is shown?

The promo stops a few seconds before the end of the credits rolling and we get to hear the last few seconds of the FOB version of the The Simpsons.

Why bother promoting something if it’s not going to be shown/heard?

  40. barrett April 23, 2009 at 6:08 pm -

Did 7 promote Earl’s return because Prime sure as hell didn’t.

  41. Tepee April 23, 2009 at 5:43 pm -

Jerome, I consider New Simpsons to be must-see TV – it’s not everyday that you see an ep that hasn’t been repeated one million times. Speaking of Simpsons nice to see it (finally) get good ratings in a harder timeslot. Also excellent closing numbers for AGT, although not much in comparison to a Biggest Loser or Dance finale.

  42. ryan April 23, 2009 at 4:53 pm -

biggest loser is going out on a high! best daily show numbers all season:) i so hope the finale gets over 1.6
