1.6 for AGT is a good sign for TGYH i’d say most of those 1.6 will roll over to TGYH and then they already have a large audience under their belt. and RPA, WG4U and simpsons are far from must see tv.

Wed 9:30 is one low rating timeslot.

  2. Andrew B April 23, 2009 at 11:34 am -

This week progressively, 9 and 7 are exactly equal. 9 will win tonight, Fri should be 7’s, and most likely Sat as well – 7 gets the week.

  3. Rutzie April 23, 2009 at 11:28 am -

My Name Is Earl should be in a 7.30pm or 8pm timeslot. Putting it after CM was a big mistake. They should move Beyond The Darklands back to 9.30pm Wednesday and put double eps of Earl at 7.30pm Thursday pushing GW, Grey’s and PP back an hour each.

  4. Craig April 23, 2009 at 11:09 am -

@Xavier I was wondering the same, David do you know what happened to Lie To Me this week?

Also anyone else hate how ch10 dropped in a short promo for ONE HD, just before the House credits last night?

  5. Craig April 23, 2009 at 11:07 am -

@Xavier I was wondering the same about Lie to Me, as far as I know it aired in 16×9 in the US (in HD which ch10 doesn’t have anymore for it’s main channel)

David do you know what happened to Lie this week?

BTW anyone else hate how they stuck a ONE HD promo in just before the closing credits :nad:

  6. Jed April 23, 2009 at 10:35 am -

    Go the Simpsons.

Lol for Hot Seat. Once again their ratings go down, Deals ratings go up. Love it.

  7. Brodie April 23, 2009 at 10:16 am -

I’d say the likelihood of Earl and Family Guy in that slot next week are slim.

  8. Christine April 23, 2009 at 3:21 am -

Can’t believe Dexter doesn’t rate higher, its the best thing on tv, then again it’s on so very late…

  9. Xavier April 22, 2009 at 10:17 pm -

damn lie to me has gone down and what was with it not airing in widescreen? i mean come on. hells kitchen is great! shame nine overused it

  10. DAN April 22, 2009 at 5:23 pm -

Locks like the hot seat may turn into the flop show it was thumped by deal again and only did slightly better than antiques road show

  11. Tepee April 22, 2009 at 4:49 pm -

I love Sonia, but I am truly flabbergasted by those numbers for 10 Years Younger. Bloody hell those makeover people sure have venomous tongues – one fashionista was like “we’ll take 10 years off you, and hopefully 10 kilos too” or something similar to that. Seven are trying to market it as a heart-warming show but with such an emphasis on superficiality I don’t think that’s the angle to take. Still, fantastic numbers, although undoubtedly assisted by absolutely no competition from Nine. And those Hot Seat numbers don’t look too encouraging…

  12. Harry April 22, 2009 at 4:45 pm -

New NCIS back next week! Finally. Usual figures.. Lie To Me dropped below a million for the first time? Thats disappointing. That Sonia Kruger crap 1.3? Seriously.

  13. Dakota April 22, 2009 at 4:28 pm -

Wow – was a bit disappointed with the very-built-up return of Guy Sykes on Neighbours and he didn’t even shoot anyone this time :( Hopefully more comes out of this during the week.

  14. Andrew B April 22, 2009 at 2:19 pm -

As I predicted somwhere in another thread, the leads that 9 had over 7 and 10 from Sunday and Monday were all but lost last night. 9’s progressive lead for the week is about now 1% more than 7, whereas yesterday it was about 7%. 7 will whip them tonight, 9 may win by a little on Thur, but its heading towards 7’s week.

Serves their own right for not capitalising on Tuesday nights once Rafters finished and trying to shove more Ramsey at us.

  15. Lewis April 22, 2009 at 1:38 pm -

Great to see Nine’s mindless drivel get smashed in the ratings. AFHV and Commercial breakdown are absolute tripe that don’t deserve airtime. Meanwhile 2 seasons of Survivor go to waste…

  16. michael*oz April 22, 2009 at 12:48 pm -

    Today beating Sunrise in Sydney!!!!!!

    Brilliant!

  17. ryan April 22, 2009 at 12:39 pm -

richard w, i so agree!!! those numbers must b wrong!! totally a piece of crap show, i even watched during the ads and i hated it!

  18. Jed April 22, 2009 at 12:37 pm -

All Saints should never have been moved to 8.30 in the first place. Shows usually get pushed back for not rating well. All Saints’ ratings were down but were consistant at 9.30 so why move it? They should just stuck something else on at 8.30 when Rafters finished.

Why on earth did everyone watch that tacky 10 Years Younger crap?? That is lowest common denominator programming at its worst. Its that trashy kind of reality/makeover stuff you’d expect from the CW network. And Lie to Me got its ass kicked, probably because of the week on, week off syndrome due to the fast tracking. Ten would have been better off holding all the episodes and playing them later in the year.

  20. Luke W April 22, 2009 at 12:11 pm -

How long do people think it will take for Seven to do a switcheroo of AS and TYYITD because a 9:30 show outrating the 8:30 show before it doesn’t happen that often. I also think it is time for Ten to bring back out the new NCIS. They can’t rely on repeats to win the night anymore.

  21. Richard W April 22, 2009 at 12:05 pm -

OMG! Please… the figures for Sonya Kruger’s 10 Years in Days must be wrong or manipulated! I demand a re-count!

This will only mean more Sonya on TV! Lord help us!

  22. Leon April 22, 2009 at 11:36 am -

Game shows head to head 5:30pm
Deal or no Deal 2 / Milliona.. Hot Seat 0

    I called it..

  23. Anthony S April 22, 2009 at 11:30 am -

10 years younger was great… Sonia Kruger was fantastic as always!!
I think 10 years should be at 8.30 and put All Saints back to 9.30

  24. Jed April 22, 2009 at 11:07 am -

Wow. 1.3mil for 10 years younger in 10 days. And #5 on the night. Did not see that coming.

And Eli Stone. That is excellent figures for a 10.30 show. Well deserved. And its a big increase which is strange considering there can’t be long until it finishes. Maybe people left it too late to realise how good this show is.

Lol at Hot Seat. Figures go down for Hot Seat, figures go up for Deal. Who cares though it’s Eddie McGuire, the sooner he’s off our screens the better.

  25. Rutzie April 22, 2009 at 11:02 am -

Nine once again get flogged on Tuesday and they deserve to with that poor excuse of a line up. I’m surprised 10 Years Younger rated that well in a 9.30pm timeslot. When are Nine gonna learn putting Underbelly stories in ACA doesn’t make it rate any better. With the AGT Grand Final on tonight Seven should hit the front by tomorrow and won’t be caught.

  26. seanie April 22, 2009 at 10:53 am -

I never thought 10 Years Younger would do that well. I watched for 5 minutes and it was an absolute wank.

Good to see the brainless crap on 9 last night bomb, even 20 to 01 bombed out.

I didn’t realise NCIS was a repeat again. Ten must be holding new eps to drag it throughout the year. I guess we’re in for a few repeats then…

  27. danness April 22, 2009 at 10:23 am -

So right now I’m guessing it’s safe to say Hot Seat won’t be back after the initial 20 episode run.

  28. Earthquake April 22, 2009 at 10:23 am -

ACA’s ratings have gone up (at one stage they were coming 3rd to Neighbours in some cities) – is there any reason they’ve gone up so much (I’m not a regular viewer of ACA)?

  29. Eyce April 21, 2009 at 10:39 pm -

I’d just like to say Poor form to Channel 10 for not even airing Lie To Me in widescreen.

  30. David Knox April 21, 2009 at 10:06 pm -

    The Morning Show Mon 225,000

  31. seanie April 21, 2009 at 7:56 pm -

That is a huge drop for Underbelly. I think Ten could very well win next Monday with Loser Finale, and we could see Underbelly drop even lower.

Scrubs has grown into a decent performer in primetime. Along with HIMYM it is smashing the competition in 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

  32. Rutzie April 21, 2009 at 5:37 pm -

Surely Ten could show the IPL games on during the week since they’re on so late. Why only show it on ONE. Strange decision by Ten. Great to see Scrubs almost crack the million. David any chance of The Morning Show ratings from Monday please. Just wondering if Ronan Keating hosting impacted on the ratings. After seeing Monday’s result I think I might have to change my prediction about Nine winning the week.

  33. Craig April 21, 2009 at 4:57 pm -

    @ryan – 11th Hour starts (with ep 2) next Monday at 9:30 on ch9.

(and will probably be axed a few weeks later :P)

  34. Tepee April 21, 2009 at 4:45 pm -

Still excellent numbers for Underbelly, despite a post-Easter drop. No one has yet pointed out that UB’s second episode lost next to no viewers from its first last night. DH staying solid but B&S dropping with competition with UB.

@tommyk I agree B&S was a great episode last night. But I don’t agree that something else will trump UB. Or I could be wrong.

  35. Andrew B April 21, 2009 at 4:38 pm -

Was just as bad Monday 2 weeks ago as well when UB were repeats. You’d think they would still promote it as they really need the ratings points.

  36. Harry April 21, 2009 at 4:26 pm -

I think TEN refuse to advertise NCIS on Mondays because they know themselves having NCIS on Mondays is an overkill, especially because its on the day after. I love the show to bits but people will get sick of it

  37. Brandex April 21, 2009 at 4:18 pm -

@ryan TEN’s reasoning behind not advertising NCIS on Monday’s is probably that its just a filler. It wont be on Mondays as of May 4 because Supernatural is replacing it. But also the main reason why it only got 700,000 this week could have something to do with the fact it was up against a new Underbelly.

  38. tommyk April 21, 2009 at 4:09 pm -

next week underbelly will have bigger competition from 10 and will probably sink into the 1.7’s (that’s a drop od 800k from it’s premier) should leave the #1 show of the year well up for grabs.

shame people missed B&S last night it was a good episode.

  39. ryan April 21, 2009 at 3:44 pm -

still ten refuse to advertise ncis on mondays and still it is failin way behind tuedays repeats.

  40. ryan April 21, 2009 at 3:40 pm -

david do you know if 9 are playing 2 new eps next week aswell??
i so hope the finale of dance and loser gets over 1.6

  41. mark zanker April 21, 2009 at 1:39 pm -

I hope ten dont change their news as some people wish it as i usually watch the simposns then move onto sbs world service. Most of the other news services are not up to scratch.

  42. cpandilo April 21, 2009 at 12:11 pm -

    Pete,
the F1 ratings listed were just for the replay on Ten.

    Travodo88,
ONE’s live coverage of the F1 on Sunday gathered 143,000 for the race. Pre-race got 59,000 & Post-race got 127,000.

  43. Jerome April 21, 2009 at 12:09 pm -

so much to discuss today! millionaire did ok. but that was the premier which i am going to say will be the highest rating episode i can’t imagine many more people switching that didn’t switch or tune in last night.

numbers for YSML and missing pieces, i’m sorry, are terrible considering the circumstances. 7 and 10 skew very young, 9 had the older audience for the taking, they were before underbelly which was enough to bring customs to 1.4 which was not a stand alone hit and the cross promotion during 60 minutes, not to mention that both shows fit what people are into these days. 9 just can’t seem to do factuals the way 7 do.

underbelly’s season average was 2.295, after last might it is 2.20, if it gets another 1.8 it will be 2.173 and another 2.145. which could leave the #1 show of the year still up for grabs. TGYH much? or am i just being hopeful.

i thought HIMYM and scrubs might break the mil without SYTYCD or 2.5men but i think 7 would still be happy with that especially with those demos. people wanted scrubs to be a sucess so that it would pave 30rock’s way into primetime, i think we can consider it a sucess.

  44. Edu April 21, 2009 at 10:02 am -

UB dropped to 1.8mn, it only goes to show that the adage “out of sight, out of mind” is true, hopefully networks don’t mess up with episodes on non-ratings week nevertheless, last night episodes were good. Also good were YSML and MP.

  45. Brodie April 21, 2009 at 9:46 am -

Underbelly dropped a lot. Decent premiere for Missing Pieces, but it hasn’t capitalised on the genre like Find My Family. Decent debut for Hot Seat, will be interesting to see whether it holds/climbs/drops from those numbers. Personally, I think it will drop.

  46. Andrew B April 21, 2009 at 9:23 am -

Hot Seat bombed and will only go worse if last nights episode is anything to go by. Like I said before, too much talk and crap, not enough questions, and poorly thought out format.

  47. Andrew B April 21, 2009 at 9:03 am -

Noticed on the TV guides there is also Underbelly uncut on Monday night at 10.30 as well as Tuesday 9.30 and 10.30 next week. Once a week might work – but 3 of them? I have the DVD so no point to watch. I’m sure many others do.

Really getting sick of everything now being in double episodes whenever an original show does not work. Even 7 will be doing it with Bones on Sunday. 10 with NCIS Tue – plus a 3rd sometimes on Mondays. Variety on TV worsening.

Last night I watched the 1st Underbelly but was too bored to stick around for the second, taping it to watch on another night when nothing else is on. Two hours of this new Underbelly is too much.

  48. Adam April 21, 2009 at 3:37 am -

Have Ten made a mistake by showing the IPL exclusively on it’s One channel?

  49. Jed April 21, 2009 at 12:00 am -

The difference JM is that 7 have acknowledged its Border Security USA. Nine called Vince Colosimo’s Customs in an attempt to disguise it as a local program.

Sundays suck now. Nothing to watch. They should switch some Monday night shows to Sunday. Monday nights from 7.30 to 11.30 i have to tape 1 program while i watch another.

Sunday Night. I gave up on it. Was flicking channels saw Monique Wright doing a story about a guy driving a car, and thought thank god i’m not watching this crap anymore. No decent journalism on that show at all.

  50. ryan April 20, 2009 at 11:59 pm -

move out of the blue to after dexter, and sports tonight start at 5.30 and have a half decent news coverage on sunday instead of the pathetic 15 mins!!

  51. Andrew B April 20, 2009 at 11:56 pm -

Hot Seat should have stuck to a faster original format Millionaire. Still too much talking from Eddie and the pass system just doesn’t work as contestants who don’t care about the end result don’t care if they get a question wrong and drop out.

The American version of Millionaire is a hundred times better, and they can get through 2 contestants under original format reaching 64k or more each in half an hour. No meaningless chatter.

  52. Pete April 20, 2009 at 11:18 pm -

Hey David was the F1 ratings just the late night repeat on Ten or did it include the figures from the live broadcast on One???

  53. Stanners April 20, 2009 at 7:24 pm -

60 Minutes was basically ACA or Today Tonight what with the low brow ‘Cougar’ story last night…and I am not talking fauna. Sunday Night actually had something credible last night with the Garuda pilot, but people clearly prefer their trash, and that 60 Minutes was last night.

  54. Craig April 20, 2009 at 6:52 pm -

I caught a bit of 24 last night bit come on ch7 11pm on Sunday is too late, which is a pity as it looked good but with Dexter and the F1 (for those without ONE HD) on Sundays has become a busy night.

  55. Natasha April 20, 2009 at 6:42 pm -

Why is ch 7 airing Border Security USA? Do we really need to know what goes on in America’s airports? Do we care?

  56. RichoTB April 20, 2009 at 6:42 pm -

Seven deserve to lose with that crappy line up. As if 1 Border Security wasn’t enough , they now have another cheap clone of it. Lazy, tacky programming at its worst. And I’m glad that Beyond The Darklands tanked, the less crime factuals there are the better. They should axe it and put something better on, Prison Break only has 6 eps to go even if it did fold last time it was in a 9:30 slot

  57. Justin April 20, 2009 at 6:37 pm -

SYTCD deserves so much better. best reality show on television. hopefully next year they move it into a better timeslot

  58. Andrew B April 20, 2009 at 5:47 pm -

How to kill a new show in just 3 minutes. Start a new game show, advertised for 5.30 at 5.27 – 3 minutes early. The first 3 minutes which tells you how the new game will work will be missed by anyone tuning in on time. At 5.30pm, Eddy is already asking questions.

Deal can get away with an early start as it is established. A new show cannot. 9 just putting the nails in their own coffins. Be interesting to see the ratings.

  59. Travodo88 April 20, 2009 at 5:46 pm -

Hi- wondering what the figures for the Formula One on ONE were?

  60. Gerry April 20, 2009 at 5:02 pm -

Good to see 60 Minutes back at the top. They really do deserve it. Last night’s episode was great. Also fantastic to see the season final of Domestic Blitz pull great numbers last night. Sunday Night is dead and gone. Thank goodness.

Today on Sunday will hopefully pull higher numbers, as Nine’s Sunday mornings are a great lineup. Video Hits is really poor these days. Hosts have turned weird, and the songs are stupid. They should just play songs that are hits, and no stupid “predictions” or “viewer requests” garbage.

    Hope Nine wins the week.

  61. mr April 20, 2009 at 5:00 pm -

To bad for tens GG ,Bad lead in at 5.30.Time for some changes at 5.30 Bring back Me or the dog or Oprah,s big give.

  62. David Knox April 20, 2009 at 4:24 pm -

    24 was 198,000.

    That Perth match was 164,000.

    Dexter 529,000.

  63. vid April 20, 2009 at 3:36 pm -

sunday night… i think it needs to be rested….for good

  64. Ryano April 20, 2009 at 2:26 pm -

    Hey David,
Can you find provide any ratings for West Coast Eagles V Western Bulldogs on Seven in Perth Sunday between 3pm-6pm?
    Thanks in advance.

  65. Harry April 20, 2009 at 2:20 pm -

Loser pulling in a decent number, Dance I was expecting 1.3 at least – hope the finale exceeds 1.5

  66. JohnTv April 20, 2009 at 12:36 pm -

Might have been a good idea to have kept Sunday Night going on Easter Sunday after all. Audiences are fickle beasts these days and you cannot guarantee that they will come back when you decide to return a show that was already struggling to build an audience.

David, when does the 10 week deadline for Sunday Night happen ?

  67. Earthquake April 20, 2009 at 12:32 pm -

Poor Guerrilla Gardeners. It was a good concept but probably the wrong network for it.

  68. Craig April 20, 2009 at 12:02 pm -

I watched SBS and ABC last night, great movie on SBS, ending just in time for the F1. The Evidence getting 539k on a Sunday at 10:30 not to bad for an unadvertised new show that was axed in the US. It also beat the Dexter final and what happened to 24 on ch7?

Wonder if Dexter S3 will be back any time soon?

  69. Nick April 20, 2009 at 11:34 am -

Channel Seven loves pedaling fear and crime don’t they?

  70. michael*oz April 20, 2009 at 11:32 am -

    Seven Third…..in a ratings week…….who’s have thunk?

  71. koverstreet April 20, 2009 at 11:25 am -

    Wow 7 came third.

60 Minutes was fantastic last night great to see it rate so well. SN was tabloid rubbish as usual so not surprising to see people tune out. Will be axed soon you would think.

Good to see DB back to it’s previous numbers as well with such a touching episode. I hope this wondeful show returns.

Great night for 10 too and they probably killed it in the younger demos.

  72. JM April 20, 2009 at 10:59 am -

Im waiting for people to start complaining about Border Security:USA…………
An Imported show with a cheap aussie voice over………… Gee i wonder what that sounds like….. Perhaps Vince Colosimo’s: Customs

  73. Jake April 20, 2009 at 10:45 am -

@Edu: Nine News usually does ok on a Sunday following a strong lead in from Sunday NRL. Also, Ian Ross is on holidays.

  74. Andrew B April 20, 2009 at 10:33 am -

Ch 10 should move Out of the Blue to early day time weekends, and put Sports Tonight back 5.30 Sun – they seem to rush the news and sports too much in half an hour. Suggest the poor performance for Gurilla Gardeners was that noone know it was on then. 9 News Sydney is better on weekends than weekdays.

  75. Ryan April 20, 2009 at 10:26 am -

Why is 24 not included anymore?

  76. damo April 20, 2009 at 10:16 am -

big win for for domestic blitz and stick that up ya sunday night and their fake show

  77. Rutzie April 20, 2009 at 10:07 am -

Too stupid moves of shows to Sundays. Seven moving Beyond The Darklands and Ten moving Guerilla Gardeners dumb moves. Bones new eps held up well against CSI. Who’s tipping Criminal Minds repeat at 9.30pm next Sunday on Seven. Nine will win this week comfortably.

  78. Brodie April 20, 2009 at 9:43 am -

Terrible retention for Sunday Night. I can’t see it lasting long. SYTYCD also really low considering it is the final episode before the finale. CSI also well down on previous seasons, despite less competition and a big lead in from 60 Minutes.

Bones did decently in the 8.30 slot, considering the show was practically dead this time last year, 7 may have groomed a hit out of it.

  79. Edu April 20, 2009 at 9:37 am -

Nine News Sydney has edged Seven news sydney again, has this always been the case? I

  80. tommyk April 20, 2009 at 9:29 am -

SN had cheaper stories last night, not surprised it scored low. surprised 60mins did so well i thought it was crap last night. good numbers for DB, and bad numbers for beyond the darklands. for such a cheap show 7 could be onto a winner with BS USA.

and the force seems to have held up well moving to sundays with tough competition. my guess is that when people saw a karl stefanovic dating story coming up on 60 mins followed by an import dolly parton story they switched to the force.
