But 9 would see the figures at least for the scheduled shows that were replaced so they’d have some idea.

  2. David Knox May 4, 2009 at 10:02 am -

As it wasn’t listed with OzTAM there weren’t any.

  3. Edu May 4, 2009 at 9:52 am -

David, were you able to obtain figures for that surprise edition of Today on Saturday?

  4. Andrew B May 3, 2009 at 4:52 pm -

It snot a matter of whether movies shold be on TV or not, its more a matter of poor movie choices and repeating the crap out of some titles only. There’s no reason why networks still can’t have at least on new-to-TV movie on each week which would rate better than the poor choices they opt for.

  5. Harry May 3, 2009 at 2:09 pm -

I think losing Friday hurt TEN, if they had performed better they would have won the week. Medium/Law and Order dont work TEN!

  6. gerrard May 3, 2009 at 11:39 am -

Yey! Ten beat Seven on saturday.

I really don’t think movies should be so regular on TV unless they are massive premieres, or marathons (like harry Potter). Movies don’t really rate that well.

  7. Andrew B May 3, 2009 at 11:19 am -

7 wins the week, 10 just holds onto 2nd at 0.3% above 9 who is 3rd. Very close for 7,9 and 10 on Sat, even ABC not far behind.

  8. Mick May 3, 2009 at 12:16 am -

Was surprised with ponderland, found it to be quite amusing. Still trying to rap my head around “Thank God your here” not funny at all. The audience must be on some substance with all that laughter going on.

  9. mark zanker May 2, 2009 at 7:06 pm -

i hope that the quality of thank god your goes up. when you hear the laugh track louder then the audience then its struggling to give out great laughs. compare that to the hollowman on friday night (in adelaide) where i was genuinely laughing throughtout the episode. as for thirty rock its the new scrubs. great for late night tv and it will be shown on primetime maybe during its last season.

  10. Dino May 2, 2009 at 4:48 pm -

As I suspected, 7 pull out a huge Friday win and are now comfortably leading the week. Better Homes and Gardens pulled huge numbers last night.

Saturdays are always hard to predict, I think it could be close between all networks. Can Ten hold on to second this week??? I think they could seeing this is the rivalry round of the AFL.

  11. Andrew B May 2, 2009 at 2:57 pm -

@ Brodie – could not agree more – also the fact the two shows are very different, appealing to different audience.

Another comparison I am sick of is Hot Seat to Million Dollar Wheel of Fortune. Again, they are very different. And no doubt the reason that Hot Seat will remain on despite lower ratings than Wheel is because they need to have Eddie doing something for his obscenely high pay packet (other than AFL stuff).

  12. Craig May 2, 2009 at 12:53 pm -

    Seven killed last night.

  13. Andrew B May 2, 2009 at 11:04 am -

7 now winning the week, with 10 ahead of 9 in 2nd place by just 0.4%. 7 will win the week overall, and it will be a battle between 10 and 9 for 2nd. AFL should help 10′s share, though. There have been some Sats in weeks past where 9 has been 4th.

  14. Brodie May 2, 2009 at 10:41 am -

I don’t know why people keep comparing Loser wk 1 to MasterChef wk 1. Loser aired during summer, and MasterChef over the autumn/winter where viewing numbers traditionally increase significantly.

  15. square eyes May 2, 2009 at 8:58 am -

It appears TEN is going to have a hit on its hands in Masterchef.
Friday ratings have seen it do around 900k and beating 2 1/2 Men in Sydney.
    And its only week one!

This is significantly up on Loser on a Friday which got down to as low as 700k.
Far to say all of those calling it “Masterflop”..”sillyghostly” “dan” should now refrain as its becoming somewhat embarrasing for you.

  16. Tepee May 1, 2009 at 10:38 pm -

@par3182 – Completely agree; TT being the number one show is just appalling. I’d even rather something like 20 to 1 top Thursday because at least it’s comparatively harmless and it’s a show that knows it is low quality. Whereas TT tries to pass utter crap as credible, and the worst thing is that people just gobble it up like hungry infants! Turn your TV off after 7 News, read a book, change to TEN, SBS or ABC, go for a walk, put on a DVD – so many options other than watching Today Tonight, people!

Hi- did One week at a time on ONE make the top 100 Monday night?

  18. Craig May 1, 2009 at 5:31 pm -

Thanks David (how did I not remember that?) 10:30 Friday aka the death night/time for it’s last few eps RIP :(

  19. cpandilo May 1, 2009 at 5:22 pm -

Life on Mars is on 10.30 Fridays (so you know what time it is on).

David, why are there only 3 city figures for Swift & Shift Couriers (rpt) from Monday?

  20. MasterChef May 1, 2009 at 4:24 pm -

MasterChef is performing quite well – as said, better than TBL in week 1. Now that auditions are over, the numbers seem to be improving and Sunday’s episode should rate around 1.2/1.3 million. If it pulls those numbers, and retains the weekly audience over the next few weeks, it will most likely get a 2010 renewal. Big Brother last year dropped in viewers significantly during the first week and from then on could only hold around 1 million on Sundays.

I hope the show continues to perform strongly, it has been put together quite well from what I’ve seen and provides more entertainment (IMO) than anything that shares its timeslot.

Im surprised at Bondi Vets number – thats excellent! Great to see Masterchef over a million again as it is to see SVU above 1 million. Very tight Thursday – disappointing figure for The Footy Show, should be more.

  22. ryan May 1, 2009 at 3:09 pm -

wow look at bondi vets ratings!!! it won its timeslot! looks like 10 will renew this for a second season esp since every week its ratings grow

  23. Brodie May 1, 2009 at 2:54 pm -

Bye Bye NRL Footy Show. Those figures are truely horrendous.

  24. David Knox May 1, 2009 at 1:35 pm -

    LoM is Fridays now.

  25. Craig May 1, 2009 at 1:17 pm -

What happened to Life on Mars last night?

  26. Andrew B May 1, 2009 at 12:52 pm -

At least its not 20-1. That’s happened as well in weeks gone by.

  27. Dino May 1, 2009 at 12:51 pm -

Bit of a shame for Ten that they’ll lose the week, due to a pathetic Friday lineup. 7 will do doubt thump out a 10%ish win tonight, which will put them ahead for the week. If their Saturday holds up as well as last week, they’ll pull off a comfortable weekly win.

It really is a battle for second place IMO. Im not sure if it would be more embarrassing for 9 to drop to third, or Ten to come third on their biggest week of the year.

  28. par3182 May 1, 2009 at 12:31 pm -

The number one show is ‘Today Tonight’? That truly saddens me.

  29. Andrew B May 1, 2009 at 10:55 am -

Overall, 10 is still ahead of 7 for the week – just. 9 is 3rd. Whether the week goes to 10 or 7 will depend on how weekend does. 7 should win tonight, and maybe Sat so they may get the week, with 10 2nd, and 9 3rd.

  30. damo April 30, 2009 at 7:30 pm -

thank god your here will keep getting great numbers as long as they dont bring on the sunrise and morning show hosts on it. i have a feeling 7 will tell them to do that

  31. gerrard April 30, 2009 at 5:27 pm -

    @ Wednesday,

as if Ellen got less than Dr Phil. I guess old people don’t like Ellen. She’s awesome though. The View is doing pretty well, seeing as it’s against Oprah.

  32. Tepee April 30, 2009 at 4:57 pm -

Excellent ratings for Thank God. @Jerome: “most people thought it could easily get well over 2mil.” Well I didn’t, I was thinking it’d get around 1.5-1.6 and above. I’m sure a 2 year break and switching channels would only decrease numbers, not increase them. But it has shown it is still a popular show.

Peculiar that RPA and What’s Good for You bounced back with tougher competition after last week’s sub-1-mill ratings, but heartening for Nine. Good to see Simpsons still over the mill and MasterChef hovering around that figure. With the TGYH lead-in CM soared, ABC’s panel show duo was unaffected and performed strongly, while The Mentalist was almost down to House’s paltry numbers.

  33. Harry April 30, 2009 at 4:20 pm -

They should hurry up and skip auditions – not a good start for Masterchef! TEN will not win this week, heck with last nights figure they’ll come third!

  34. ryan April 30, 2009 at 2:38 pm -

masterchef is actually doing better than the biggest loser did in week 1

  35. Andrew April 30, 2009 at 2:32 pm -

Great to see The View figures and they’re pretty good up against the mighty Oprah. Love The View!!!!

  36. ozgeek April 30, 2009 at 2:10 pm -

“Thank God We Stole You” did better than I expected. New Simpsons was a hit at our house and the finale of Life was worth more than that paltry number. At least it wasn’t House shark-jumping (is anyone left alive on that show now?).

Will Fenelle,? You might be better off with Will Farell. Apparently he was on the Aussie version of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy – as part of the team.

  37. DAN April 30, 2009 at 2:02 pm -

Master Chef looks like turning into master flop

  38. Marco April 30, 2009 at 1:11 pm -

@ Ellie – you can dream about Will Fennell – he bats for the other side!

  39. Pete April 30, 2009 at 1:03 pm -

Does anyone know the IPL ratings from last night if they made the top 100 and also the Champions League soccer on SBS how they rated over the last two nights.

  40. Benno April 30, 2009 at 11:39 am -

Sillygostly, not everyone is going to like a show, and almost every show drops a bit after the premiere and 70% retention so far is ok. The real test will be how well it stays consistent. At least it’s more effort than what nine have done. Not that i watch the show or anything.

  41. Sillygostly April 30, 2009 at 11:17 am -

Great to see New Simpsons rating so well despite the stiff competition.

Masterchef has already lost 400k viewers since its premiere. *cough* What the hell were they thinking?

  42. Jerome April 30, 2009 at 10:48 am -

yes 1.74 is good, especially with those demos, and yes it was worth the money, and it scored more than underbelly which is about the same price per ep. but it sure did underperform in terms of predictions. most people thought it could easily get well over 2mil.

i thought it was great last night, i hope the figures can improve. next week hamish is on!!

Lost with 279 is not bad for 11:00. it’s been underperforming in it’s timeslots for a few years now it looks like it’s found a comftable slot.
