A bit disappointing to see Masterchef drop back so much. I quite like it.
Great figures for TGYH. I guess that’s the reason why Criminal Minds is so high as well.
@Rutzie: Agree. Earl isn’t even that good a show. It’s not the right fit for that timeslot either.
hmm… 1.74m and first place… I’m thinking if it stays similar to those numbers, seven will consider it money well spent, I know I do!
Great numbers for TGYH. Seven have to move My Name Is Earl. It’s not a 9.30pm show and putting it after Criminal Minds is dumb. Beyond The Darklands was pulling around the million mark in that slot. Considering they have heaps of episodes up their sleeve they could show douple eps on Thursday at 7.30pm and push back all the other shows and hour.
30 Rock would rate much better earlier – even 10.30 Wed instead of Ponderland, and if it actually started on time. It’s advertised and in the EPGs as 11.30 but more often than not starts as early as 11.20. I don’t watch Boston Legal, but have to set my IQ2 to record Boston just to see all of 30 Rock. It fits completely into the Boston Legal recording when I use the “add 20 minutes” feature.
I cannot understand why the networks (mostly 7 and 9, 10 is generally OK) can’t get something right as simple as starting programs at the correct time and in accordance to their EPGs. Seems 6pm news is the only on time show all night.
I would watch 10 Years Younger just to see Will Fennell the grooming guy. He is seriously adorable and by far the warmest one of the lot. This week he played with home made skin care with the lady. He can come help me in my kitchen anytime……It looks like the show is here to stay, but yes move it to 8.30
Was 30 Rock ever given a chance in a decent timeslot? For a show with massive critical acclaim and averaging almost 8 million a week in the US it’s not really given a chance. If it were advertised sufficiently it could be quite a nice little breadwinner at about a 10pm slot every week.
Surely I’m not the only one who thinks this show is hideously hard done by? There’s no advertising whatsoever, sometimes not even at the end of Boston Legal. Which is a shame, because it’s so goddamn funny.
OMGG Put 10 years younger at 8.30!!
Demographically speaking (which is where the money is in television), TGYH would have to do better than it did on ten to make more money. Even if it pulls 2m in total people, they may make less money than they did on ten, because seven skews old. I’m recording it now, and watching it later.
TGYH will need to pull in audience numbers of in excess of 1.8m to 2m to justify the licence fee 7 paid.
No question it is a tough night for those at TEN to watch a show they built and promote work another network..Millions of dollars goes into building and promoting brands..All paid by the networks.
Something I reckon Working Dog elected to forget!!
Masterchef will drop further tonight which will create the usual cynicism with critics but I believe what has been shot going forward is quite compelling with the top 20 challenges from next week.
I even hear word of an overseas challenge!
There are only four episodes of Lie To Me left. Pair it with House next year and don’t fast track either show.
Lie to Me will not be pushed back, that pushes back the news and everything else for the night. I’m starting to like the show but maybe it would be better of another night?
And please No NCIS re-run, show Burn Notice or something else if the mush replace it.
Masterchef should do better after auditions and into main comp. Too many hours of auditions.
No, no, no. Oringinal shows before repeats. Saying to put on a repeat instead of an original show is uncreative programming like what ch 9 usually do. Lie to Me is not doing that badly compared to other shows around. 843k is ok for 9.30, beat ch 9 at 9.30 as well – which was – you guessed it – a repeat!
Thankfully, the Tuesday night 20-1 is not permanent.
Steady numbers for MasterChef but TEN wouldn’t want them to go lower than a mill. Still it’s only auditions. Interesting to see 20 to 1 not far behind Seven’s supposed outstanding Tuesday factual lineup, and double 2.5 Men beating All Saints. If it weren’t for Seven’s simply amazing 6pm to 7:00 numbers (and Sonia Kruger’s equally amazing 9:30 numbers – who would have predicted that?!) Nine’s share would have been much higher, plus the fact that they’re repeating Underbelly – everyone’s already seen it, Nine! Seems that Lie to Me’s numbers are indicative of the disadvantages of fast-tracking.
Masterchef pretty good number for auditions, NCIS and Bondi TENs most dangerous duo no doubt. Lie To Me is failing – seems viewers dont like the on-off thing TEN have going on.
i agree, i think masterchef will bounce back once its in business and the contestants are selected and we can see the challange:) i would say an average of 1m this week and 1.2 in the following weeks
lie to me needs to be axed!!! its such a crap show, boring and shocking acting. ncis repeats would smash lie to me!! put lie to me on at 10.30 tuesdays and ncis repeats 9.30
I am constantly amazed at how 20 To 1 pulls those kind of figures. Neighbours drops back under the million. I had a feeling the reason it cracked the million on Monday night was because people were tuning in early for TBL.
Ouch for Ten, coming third on what looked like a strong Tuesday lineup. I wouldn’t be surprised if they came third for the week.
10 Years Younger is a break out hit. Take into account the timeslot, the fact it’s building on All Saints, and it’s such a cheap shitty show – that is quite impressive.
I thought the new NCIS episode would top the night too but it wasn’t a particularly strong episode. It focused on a minor, not so popular, character and lacked the team interaction usually associated with the show. Next week, for sure. No really.
Lie to Me is flailing, dropping 600k from its NCIS lead-in, I take it the week-on week-off thing made viewers lost interest. And I was hoping that 10 Years Younger in 10 Days crap would flop this week but it looks like it will be a strong performer for Seven the rest of the year. It will be interesting to see TGYH’s numbers tomorrow, I’m thinking figures of 1.3-1.6 million
masterchef dropped but just remember this is how the ratings were for the first few weeks of biggest loser
MasterChef dropped 370k overnight, spread fairly evenly across all markets.
Uh oh.
@Andrew, I was joking I know some people have a life away from TV.
NCIS did good but I was hoping it would top the night.
@ Craig: 4.5 mil FTA would mean about 1 – 1.5 mil on Pay TV. Then add another 3-4 mil or so for regional viewers of both. Leaves about half of total population not watching broadcast TV of any form. They’d be – out, socialising, working, sleeping, too young, too old, on internet, etc.
Ten had a ripper night, and its great that they’re going into tuesday with NCIS looking to get some decent ratings. Also, Ten Late News did really well coming off The Biggest Loser.
A great night for Ten last night, no doubt. Even the Simpsons managed to pick up an extra 100,000 on Week 17 and even more on Week 16. One wonders if the talk about it apparently being axed had anything to do with that? Or maybe just a general increase.
No just FTA. I add Pay figures every Monday but to the preceding week. ie. Last week’s figures are in Week 17 and I will add Week 18 next Monday.
I fully expect ANTM to tell us “it’s up 33% on last year’s premiere” or something similar by tomorrow, without ever telling us the actual figures.
If the season premiere of Australia’s Next Top Model rates higher than some of the shows towards the bottom of the lists, will it be listed, or are these FTA figures only?
Natasha –
24 Seven 239,000 65,000 70,000 29,000 41,000 35,000
not everyone watches tv u know.
Natasha you must keep missing it. I posted it yesterday. Look closer.
Love 24.
What are the figures for 24? Unless I keep missing it, why do you leave it out?
“i noticed well over 4.5 milion aussies were watching free to air at 8.30 pm last night!! thats a good figure”
So does that mean the other 15.5 Million are watching PayTV ?
In principle, i would normally say that nine were stupid to skip episodes, but this time i am swayed to the decision nine made. The pilot of Eleventh Hour was really that bad that i doubt many people would stick around the following week. I did because i almost always give shows a chance, and heard it gets better with every episode, which it does.
i noticed well ovr 4.5 milion aussies were watching free to air at 8.30 pm last night!! thats a good figure
SC10′s scenery HD channel now have an announcement there stating: “We are excited to annouce that the new 24 hours sports service ONE HD will be broadcast on this service in coming months” No definite date though.
As Hot Seat late was a last minute change I suspect the figures are actually those listed for Ellen De Generes which was 179,000, nd not yet adjusted for overruns (which are also 1 hr not 30 mins).
Mercurio’s Menu was Syd, Bris, Per on Sunday.
What did Millionaire Hot Seat rate when replayed at 11.30pm??
Loser peak was 2.33m.
Wow, TEN absolutely owned the night, best Loser ever and amazing transformations! Neighbours even surpassed a million! I gave Masterchef ago – its ok, judges annoy me abit though, it will be better once auditions are over.
What did Loser peak at?
well.. masterchef wasn’t that great, but i’m sure the challenges for the top 50 will be much more interesting..
Wow, two huge nights in a row for Ten. Will be interesting if they can make it three nights in a row tonight (with Masterchef, Bondi Rescue and NCIS).
@muzza – yes 11th Hour ch 9 in it’s wisdom showed the 2nd ep first (ep3 next week if it last with just 811k) The first ep is an almost direct copy of the part 1 of the UK original staring Patrick Stewart – now out on DVD.
Having seen the pilot I must say there is not much of a set, they seem to jump right in to the story. but it would have been nice to see it on ch9 first.
Mick, you read the Postcards figures wrong. As it is written, it aired in Melbourne & Adelaide only. The problem is with Mercurio’s Menu, which according to the ratings aired in Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth on Sunday – Mercurio’s Menu actually aired in Sydney, Brisbane & Perth.
David, perhaps you can correct the figure places?
Also, do you have the figures for the late edition Hot Seat from last night?
There was some (note, some) cutting of planned shows. Those that were approved remain intact and S&SC was approved back in Feb.
The repeats Swift and Shift are doing okay, even when up against the second last ep of Underbelly!
This site recently reported that SBS will be axing its local “entertainment” shows in 2010.
Does the great response to “Swift” mean that it will be spared from the axe?
Can management of this site please answer my question?
Thanks.
go ten!!! biggest loser was soooooooo good! masterchef was good but will be better once the contestants have been selected and get down to business.
TBL was fantastic last night. i loved every bit of it. so glad it won the night and that channel 10 has won 2 nights in a row. it might win tuesday and then might even go to winning the week?
MasterChef was total crap. What the hell is wrong with Australians watching this stuff.
It is more celebrity chef crap that I thought had faded about 3 years ago, same with 10 years in 10 days – wasn’t there a US version all over our TV about 5 years ago. I guess they can just reboot every show every 3 years and all the bogans will tune in.
Such bogan saps in this country, will watch any old crap they dish up. Underbelly, PTTR, Ladette to lady, etc. We really are a country of bogans, gotta get our fix of cliched, broad, “she”ll be right mate”, ain’t never been to an art gallery in my life TV . A redneck wonderland.
“12 Ten News At Five Ten 1,105,000 294,000 357,000 183,000 130,000 141,000″
Wow o_O 1.1 million and close to the top 10.
Good to see Ten doing well from 5pm (First at 5 News) until approx 11.15pm (where Ten’s Late News had doubled it’s ratings). Biggest Loser finished very well. I’m even happy how well Simspons and Neighbours did.
Well done to Seven News again for smshing the opposition
TBL was fantastic! Good work 10 and there’s going to be a new season next years. Also, neighbours passed the million mark! Bout time.
Im a big fan of UB but as with im guessing a lot of people i watched BL last night and taped UB to watch tonight. When will Australia get with the times and include DVR totals in our Ratings. If the US can do it why cant we!!
Any anyone that is “shocked” that UB didnt rate well last night either works for Channel 10 or is on drugs……. If you have 1 high rating (2 mil) show then there is no way a show on another network is going to get the same figures.
According to IMDB last nights episode of the eleventh hour wasnt the first episode. Why didnt channel 9 show them in order?
Strong night for Ten. Loser held up well and MasterChef debuted strong. But it was surrounded by high rating shows. It will be interesting to see how it goes tonight.
Underbelly has now lost almost 1 million viewers from debut. I thought it would hold 2m + figures for the entire run.
Shocker for Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. But massive for 7 News.
Good one TEN
BL did fantastic for final
Mastercheif was only ok ,not sure how 3 months of this will go
Is there a break up of the 1st hour
Did these ratings run for full hour?
Well done 10! Underbelly knocked off top by 10. What a result. If Masterchef maintains those figures, 10 could win the week, with 9 left for dead in 3rd. They have nothing on for the rest of the week that will gain any significant share.
UB came in 4th for the night and ch10 won a 2nd night in a row, OMG when was the last time that happened?
I guess UB has lost some of it’s shine, on ACA they said 1.8Mil watch the last ep, which was a low for the show but now it’s lost another 100,000 views, maybe they know they can pick up the DVDs in a few weeks to catch the eps they miss?
David, I see that Nine ran Postcards in Sydney and Brisbane on Sunday.
Do you think that was a trial run to expand into the other states when the AFL isn’t on? Based on the 350k watching in Sydney that would be enough to move it to around 8th best show for the night assuming similar averages in the other states. Brisbane did well too.
No, I don’t work for Nine but if I did I would be working that into a better slot!!!
Michael
Oh my! So you think you can Dance Australia Finals didn’t topped the Ratings!
Last Year,SYTYCD Aussie Finals got 1.8 Mil,And Ten’s share that time is almost 37%!
big brother might have beaten dance in finals but big brothers other shows bombed major! bl s***s all over big brother in ratings
I am loving the fact Bones is beating CSI. This time last year Bones could barely manage 1m on Thursday’s with very little competition. On the highly competitive Sunday it is beating what was the CSI powerhouse, and repeats close to all new CSI Miami.
Nice win to Ten, but Dance is down significantly. I’d say this is the last Sunday Ten will win for a while, Merlin / MasterChef and lead in reliant Rove could be in for a beating over the coming weeks IMO.
Great figure for Dance – Its a pretty good number considering the length and all year numbers, its been consistent and a good show for TEN. It did not bomb – it won TEN the night! Loser fantastic number – Bring on finale! Go Tiff!
Nice win to TEN. I honestly expected Dance to at least get a 1.8 as usually for a Channel 10 reality show viewers peak for the finale, but clearly not. In fact, (correct me if I’m wrong) last year’s BB finale even bested this year’s Dance result. Not a good sign. Obviously my comment on the AGT finale’s numbers – “not much in comparison to a Dance finale” – was completely wrong! Excellent TBL numbers, boding well for tonight’s finale. Good numbers for Rove too stretching until 10:50pm. Who thinks Second Chance will get a second chance? Based on those ratings, I don’t. And woeful retention from Sunday Night. Get the axe out!
Dance didn’t do that well, but the show was still good. Rove was also really good last night.
Second Chance could have gotten a bit higher. Deborah Hutton is an awesome host. I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: Nine should create a version of better Homes and Gardens and have Deborah hosting it. They should have it on their troubled Tuesdays, and it’s guranteed to rate. BHG used to be on Tuesdays as well.
@ Edu, completely agree with you – can’t wait to see Sunday Night head to head against 60 Minutes. No doubt 60 Minutes will win. If they thrash Seven, who knows, they may move 60 Minutes to 6:30pm. that way Sunday Night is guranteed to get axed.
kudos to 7 news in melb. topped the 600k mark. Ive never seen the news rate so high! Its not like the news was anything special last night.
Thats an annoying move by ch10, splitting the dance figures into 2. Its ok for sports events, coz they usually last a fair few hours. Dance was only 2 hours.
Why didnt they just seperate the ratings for each couple while they were at it.
lol at ‘Second Chance’. It didnt even break the magic million with a 1.5million lead in. They should’ve stuck with Domestic Blitz. It seems most of nines new after easter shows bombed.
It’ll be interesting to see 60mins and SN next week as they’ll go head-to-head on a 6:30 time slot due to the Logies.
Great to see biggest loser doing well bob to win hopefully sharief was a bit silly to vote for cam he should have voted out Sammy and prayed that cam wasn’t the biggest loser if sharief wins tonight he will get 0 but if he had evicted Sammy and won he could have won 200,000
Will be very interesting to see how masterchef dose tonight
Nice to see the F1 get 127k for ONE. Melbourne really likes the channel, 60,000 people were watching in melbourne
I just cant bring myself to like Sunday night…and i am struggling for a better reason than what i have
Still strange to see Ten winning Sundays, is this all down to F1 and So You Think You Can Dance Australia? So much for 7 & 9 fighting it out with SN and 60Mins.
good numbers for dance, all yr had around 1.2, 1.3m and then added nearly 200,000 to their fan base for the finale is pretty good. rove did good but expected a little better, great show though!! biggest loser is just a stand out! major show for ten and lovin every second of it!! bring on the finale tonight! loser should atleast get 1.55m
PJ, they’ve started showing F1 live on Ten HD last year, it’s not a new thing on One now.
Good to see ONE HD and ABC2 now rating separately. This should show that digital TV is finally taking off.
And it was great to see F1 LIVE on ONE HD!!!
Definetely thought that Dance finale would have higher numbers than that! Very disappointed with Channel Ten last night, the Dance finale and Rove had so many technical difficulties, it made viewing very unpleasant!
They are huge numbers for Seven News. CSI now being beaten by Bones. My how the mighty have fallen. Did anyone else keep losing picture when watching Rove last night.
Wow!! The Biggest Loser beat So You Think You Can Dance Final!! Expect Big numbers for the finale tonight!! Go Tiffany!!!!
Not surprised ten won night. they probably will win tonight with master chef and loser finale. wow. biggest loser finale might reach 1.8 m and underbelly may drop to 1.6 m.
hope loser wins and go tiffany or bob. they all look amazing.
Wow… Dance completely bombed last night. I was expecting it to get at least 1.5, if not 1.6 million.
Biggest Loser did very well last night. Tonight the finale should rate pretty good.
Good on Rove for getting avove 1 mil again!
Out of the Blue should be moved to an earlier day or morning slot. Suggest Sports Tonight or 1 hour news on weekend would be better option to bring some people back from 7 and 9.
Later weekend news maybe an option as well, 10 news never seems to do as well at 5 on weekends.
