  1. Why is it that a show dedicated to men shoving their heads up each others bums and dressing in drag consistetly wins the “Most Popular Sports Program” every 2 years?

    Odd isnt it, given that it is only watched in 2 states and is on the verge of being cut for poor ratings. Whereas the Original Footy Show shown and watched in all states (thanks be to HD) still rates like a champion.

    Mind you AFL does have far more coverage and a much richer vein of support across both the country and the airwaves… oh, and before you have a go, I am a native New South Welshman brought up on Thugby League, but have seen the error of my ways and now buy local, that is: the Australian game, not a painful pommy import!

  3. channel dont deserve an award for anything they do with sports. the people that gave them the award from the ioc obiviously didnt see the coverage they produced. but the eople who gave them the logie last night. they did. there istn much credability in this award as it is than

  4. Having a TV awards show that’s basically a cross between a US People’s Choice Awards type show (but for TV only) and the Emmy Awards, is rather ridiculous, but Australia’s small population and very small TV industry
    (and even smaller film one), means there probably isn’t a choice.

    What I don’t understand is why Nine values the Logies so much, that they’d pay 60 mill (which amazingly happened when Kerry Packer was alive, who was notorious for always buying his investments on the cheap) for such a lame
    magazine (TV Week).

  5. It seems most of the ‘outstanding’ (industry selected) awards went to underbelly, but the ‘popular’ (voted by the public) awards went to packed to the rafters.
    Just a funny thing i thought id point out.
    Still, i think the best way to watch the logies is to put it to record, watch programs on another network till about 10pm, then start to watch the recording. That way you can forward through all the crap parts, and still finish at the same time as the telecast. It worked for me 🙂 all hail foxtel iq!!

  6. 7’s olympic coverage was awarded world’s best coverage by the international olympic commitee. so if they didn’t win an outstanding logie they would have even more credibility issues.
    a bit like how babe won an academy award but couldn’t win an AFI. and it is brought up in the press against the AFI’s every year.

  7. worst winner tonight by a country mile. sevens coverage of the olympic games. wide world of sport should have got the best sports program

  8. Everyone bags the NRL Footy Show, but as someone from an AFL state, when i’ve watched the NRL version its far better than the AFL. And notice the clips they showed, the AFL was just a stupid Sam stunt, while the NRL were actually talking about the game. Thats what its like all the time. My pick was Before the Game though.

    Beijing Paralympics for Sports Coverage. How 7 won for Beijing is beyond me, that coverage was terrible and we all told them that.

    And what’s the fascination with Vince Colosimo? He’s just gets nominated for the hell of it. He was in that show for what 20 mins total and then killed.

  11. I knew that Packed to the Rafters and Underbelly win many of the drama / acting awards. No surprises there. Both deserving winners.

    Rove won best presenter, again (should have been Andrew Denton).

  12. The whole thing was just so bogan..the show that won are aimed at bogans or real, bonza, true blue, you beat aussie types…

    it was a celebration of all things boga.
