Glimmer of hope for Gossip Girl spin-off

gossip-girl1Although its prospects aren’t great, CW President Dawn Ostroff hasn’t ruled out the Gossip Girl spin-off just yet.

The LA Times reports the network developed six drama pilots, including the spin-off, Valley Girls (former working title ‘Lily’) starring Brittany Snow, which aired as part of a Gossip Girl episode two weeks ago but was not received very well by fans.

“We were nervous about shooting so many pilots but every one of the pilots was a tough contender for us,” she said. “They all were really, really good. We do have room for another midseason show. In all honesty, the Gossip Girl spinoff is the show that we’d love to find a place for as the season goes on. But we have to take a minute and see where we are.”

Meanwhile, although it’s been reported that Smallville which will air on Fridays, will enter its ninth and final season next year, Ostroff said that decision had not been made, and she hoped the show could continue for more seasons.

Agree with Marco, the Smallville finale was a disaster. The Jimmy part was just stupid. The season was great right uptill episode 12 then it started to go downhill with the Lana arc and the Chloe-Davis arc.

The spin off was actually really good and everyone I know who watches Gossip Girl loved it also. I’m surprised it’s been spread around that fans didn’t like it.

They need to put Smallville out of its misery, even though I am one of its biggest fans. The Season 8 finale was a total disaster, after such a fantastic buildup.

I don’t see why people had a problem with the show (to air next week on Fox8) I liked it.

Good to know. Although I would have preferred the It Girl spinoff instead.
