Gossip Girl spin-off ‘dead.’

Word leaking out of Hollywood is that the spin-off with Brittany Snow has gone from hot to lukewarm to dead.

bsnowNews on the future of a Gossip Girl spin-off Lily, looks bleak.

According to Nikke Finke’s Deadline Hollywood it’s “dead”:

“As I reported at 2:45 PM today, put a fork in it. It’s done. Next Monday’s episode of Gossip Girl is a flashback that was supposed to be a tempting taste for next fall’s spinoff following the wild teen years of now mom Lily van der Woodsen (played by Brittany Snow) in Los Angeles in the 1980s.

“But even though I heard Peter Roth loved its yesteryear vibe, the show went from hot, to lukewarm, to “fading but wouldn’t count out”, to now dead, according to my insiders. I’m really surprised.”

The news is better for the Melrose Place spin-off which she considers a “lock.”

  1. @Alex Thats what I was thinking. I’m not going to actually believe it until Josh Schwartz says it’s true because she says “according to my insiders”. To me that doesn’t give me much confidence that shes right.

  2. It’s interesting they are saying it’s dead already, even before the backdoor pilot has even aired in US.
    Has Josh Schwartz released anything official yet?

  4. Aw =( I was looking forward to that. Especially because there was supposed to be cameo’s by Kirsten Cohen and Jimmy Cooper from the OC.

  6. That isn’t a surprise, considering the GG show rates very poorly in the US and isn’t a cheap show to make, being genuinely filmed in New York city.
