‘The Biggest tantrum’ says crew member

A beautician at the Biggest Loser finale says host Ajay Rochester didn't respond too well to her push for a new host.

ajr4Just days after managing an audience of over 2million viewers (and surely the week’s top show), Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester is in the firing line again.

Now a beautician, Charmyne Palavi, has told the Daily Telegraph that Rochester threw ‘a tantrum’ after learning that Palavi had been invited to provide spray-on tans for finale contestants. She gave gift bags to the finalists.

Rochester allegedly fired up when she learned Palavi had joined an online forum trying to push for former contestant Alison Braun to become a new host.

“But when I was out in the hall, Ajay just walked straight out of her dressing room, gave me the filthiest look and threw the bag back at me,” Palavi told Confidential. “It was a tantrum from hell, I couldn’t believe it. I have hate groups set up about me on Facebook and my friends join them to stand up for me. I wasn’t doing anything wrong by her.”

Rochester isn’t quoted in the article at all, which you can read in its entirety  here.

  1. As long as TBL continues and rates well I will be happy with BB evicted TBL is the only reality show left that I like just wish that someone would show UK BB either on FTA or foxtel would be good to watch it on a bigger screen than the laptop

  2. Yep, it’s time to cut the fat – goodbye Ajay.

Alison Braun might be an option – hell, Ten have six months to teach someone how to host. That said, how about Meaghan Trattles – she’s the real looker – get her on.

  3. This is silly, keep her on as host, why fix something that isn’t broken? TEN should be supporting her, no other show has pulled number like The Biggest Loser. This is just TEN sabotaging themselves as usual, I believe some of the executives need to wake up to themselves.

I was interested to hear when watching TBL the contestants say how glamours she looked and how she can provoke fear when revealing twists and secrets. I feel that as a host she evokes imagination and emotion in the minds of the contestants and I suppose this is what makes us watch. AJ is there to hold it all together and it appears she is doing this. There will always be people that have something negative to say, that just how is goes, lets move on to next year’s show.

  4. This woman clearly wanted some attention so she made up some BS story. Although I do agree that AJ should be replaced. She is a terrible host that sounds like a drone when reading from the autocue. As to the comment that Allison shouldn’t be host because all she did was lose weight, how do you think AJ got the job?. She lost 60 kgs, and clearly had no formal training to be a TV host.

  5. God poor old Aj why don’t people get off her back, shes no worse a host than Karl Stefanovic he makes me cringe with some of the rubbish he says and then thinks hes witty and clever. Get off Aj’s back. She has done a good job hosting TBL and for putting alison as host No Thanks she looks like a bloody Skeleton now, she’s creepy and what makes you think she can host a show? What she lost weight? so what! some people out there have trained to be tv hosts and don’t get a shot why should ex-contestants get the job.

  6. A fair enough response David. My concern is that this sort of knock on effect in general gives traction to comments that should on their innate merit wilt on the vine. It seems to be the reason the likes of Ms Pavlavi get more “recognition” these days than they would have previously. One of the down sides – amongst the many up – of the new media. But perhaps I’m just being a Luddite grump 🙂

  7. Biggest losers indeed. Much huffing and puffing about nothing. Though I still think Ajay is the worst television host since Lisa Treloar of Ten’s failed 1996 game show “I Do, I Do”.

  8. Charmyne Palavi is well known as someone who will do or say anything to get a tiny bit of publicity, so I wouldn’t attach much credence to anything she says.

  9. This is the problem with the press these days, and a slap on your wrist to one of my favourite sites – yes that’s you Tvtonight – for following suit. The problem I mean is that of the ramblings of nothing individuals being given credence in the media. Ms Pavlavi should receive nothing but the indifference she deserves. Her bizarre, self-aggrandizing comments about attitudes to her on Facebook show this lady is off in some sort la la land. Please Tvtonight, don’t diminish yourself by buying in to this trash, tabloid sort of reporting. You’re better than that. Or at least you have been.

    1. Adam, the site will always have elements that are “comment on commentary.”If I’d simply re-written it in the way it was in newspapers that would be one thing. On each occasion this week I’ve noted the success of TBL and how criticisms of Rochester’s role overlook the fact the show went out on a high under her watch. I also noted she had no right of reply in this article. As soon as TBL was over we’re seeing media turn on Rochester, and very little support from the network. I’d be remiss not to track this kind of info.

  10. This is very funny to read as I happened to flick on briefly during the finale the other night and at the time it was very noticable how ‘slapped’ on the tanning spray was on the host AJ. It looked so fake when you could see a very obvious change in her skin colour on her forehead hair line. Fake as!

I’d probably have a tantrum too if I looked so bad on national TV!

  11. This Palavi chick is in the wrong though. She shouldn’t have done that Ajay’s face- did she actually think Ajay would agreee with her?
