Underbelly back to court

It's deja vu as Underbelly goe back to the Victorian courts, two days before it is up for major Logie awards.

The first series of Underbelly is once again to be the subject of courtroom action between the Nine Network and the Victorian Director of Public Prosecutions.

The gangster drama will be the subject of a hearing in the Supreme Court in Melbourne today but details of the hearing cannot be revealed for legal reasons.

Nine played the first two episodes of Underbelly on Tuesday night in the same edited form as it screened late last year.

Once again Nine only plans to screen five episodes in Victoria, due to upcoming legal cases.

Last year a ban was placed on the series in Victoria giving the show huge publicity around the nation, with torrent files and bootleg DVD copies contravening a ruling to prevent Victoria from accessing the series. Later in the year it was allowed for five episodes with pixellation.

But not all cases have been completed.

The series is up for several Logies this weekend, including Most Outstanding Drama and key acting awards. Could another ban now stop clips from being shown at the Logies too?
