Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck to host Today show! Honestly we don’t need it 7 days a week and figures show it. Maybe it wil grow, but doubt it.

Wow, Saturday Disney beat Today on Saturday. That is hideously embarrassing for the Today team. Replace the co-hosts with people who have half a personality and viewers might tune in.

  4. Johnson May 10, 2009 at 8:21 am -

The rugby league test between Australia and New Zealand rated very well for Nine in Sydney and Brisbane (where the match was held). The figure could have been higher if the game was shown in Melbourne on primetime as well.

  5. Andrew B May 10, 2009 at 2:38 am -

Problem is the HomeMade ads tell too much so they remove any surprise from the show and allow people to decide whether to give it a go or not simply based on the ads whereas when Ten did it for Masterchef, they invoked inteterest by not giving too much away – this is typical of 9 Sneak Peeks – and the overload of ads will not generate ratings as the viewers will decide before the first show airs.

Suggest it will win its slot on Sunday, but not by much as viewers chose between HomeMade. Merlin and Sunday Night.

My pick is that 7 and 9 will be very close on Sunday. Winner will not be by much at all.

  6. Harry May 10, 2009 at 12:04 am -

    @ Gerry,

They arent even promos – that are like 10 minute sneak peaks every half an hour.. Expecting a big number from that show.

the today show is back to where they were at the start of last year

10 axe law and order on fridays!!! its never done you any good and rates extremly poorly!! its time to bring back friday night movies!! and ones we havnt seen before!€

  9. Craig May 9, 2009 at 3:47 pm -

Ouch for TEN coming in behind ABC in the ratings. It’s a pity TEN didn’t stick it our and show Life on Mars at a better time than 10:30 Fridays, maybe one L&O followed but LoM at 9:30?

Again it’s only Seven that seems to have good shows across the board on Friday night.

  10. gerry May 9, 2009 at 3:20 pm -

    @ Harry,

I agree that Nine are having way too many promos for homeMADE, but hopefully that will atrract more viewers. They should have done a proper promo, a bit like Masterchef’s promo. Although MC’s promos were so unrealistic (the people doing backflips while holding plates), they made me want to actually see what the show was all about. I guess promos all do the same thing, advertise the show.

  11. Harry May 9, 2009 at 1:59 pm -

Nine are killing the promos for Homemade. Imagine if it fails.. TEN get Law and Order off FFS, 400,000 for that timeslot is stupid. Good on Masterchef.. only worthy show on TEN all night, along with Neighbours which is also failing.

  12. Cameron May 9, 2009 at 1:28 pm -

Great to see Ten’s shows do well. Masterchef is great and to achieve 1 million on Friday, winning the timeslot is excellent as well as holding up against three top rating programs where Ten struggled throughout 2/3 of last year. The show is new and only in week 2, it is doing better than The Biggest Loser was at this point in the competition. I would say Masterchef is a hit and I am enjoying it.

Recruits is also a hit winning it’s timeslot on Monday and it was quite good. Merlin was also a strong performer getting similar ratings to 60 Minutes last week and I hope it continues to do well hopefully beating Sunday night and holding up against HomeMade which hopefully should do well for Nine. Talkin Bout Your Generation was also quite enjoyable on a night I stick to Ten. Hope Ten can win Tuesdays with Nine doing better. Without the Rafters Seven is not as good or enjoyable on Tuesday nights. As for TBYG, it was a lot of fun especially the final round and to beat TGYH is remarkable. TGYH should have never moved to Seven.

Looks like Nine will win the week and good on them, they have had a strong week due to the logies but if Seven does really well tonight to win the week, at least they will be close.

  13. Tepee May 9, 2009 at 1:25 pm -

Whoa for Seven, solid for Nine and ABC, ouch for TEN. MC did quite well to get over a million as the Biggest Loser rarely got over a million on Fridays – interesting because last night’s show was a cooking class, with no competition aspect whatsoever. But Law & Order is not working. I actually watched the 7:30pm Simpsons repeats as I hadn’t seen them b4. That 24-parody ep was quite good.

Extra was 166,000 giving Nine 708,000 for the 5:30 slot over Seven’s 701,000. TEN took 950,000 across the hour.

  15. Michael May 9, 2009 at 1:02 pm -

Also Nine won day time on Friday. Wow. Ellen and the View doing brilliant.

Things are looking up for the Nine Network and it is great to see. All the best to them.

  16. Michael May 9, 2009 at 1:00 pm -

Brilliant to see hot seat doing so well. It is helping Nine News and I think David Gyngell was right in saying Nine will be close to the top by the end of the year.

David do you know what the results were for Extra last night. Would be interesting to see if Nine won the 5.30 Ratings along the east coast.

  17. Dino May 9, 2009 at 12:38 pm -

Been a big week for Sunrise. close to, if not over 400k all this week, and back out to a 100k lead over Today.

Looks like 9 could very well win their 3rd week this year.

  18. gerry May 9, 2009 at 11:53 am -

Yey! Hot Seat is catching up to Deal. Finally people choose brains over blonde girls!

And it’s fantastic to see Today Show catching up to Sunrise. Funny that on Monday, despite Karl being ‘Drunk”, their ratings was very high.

I’ve said it before, but i really think Nine (or even Ten) should create a new version of Better Homes and Gardens. That show pulls huge numbers every week (and it deserves it too). Nine have Deborah Hutton to host it, Scott Cam for DIY, the Pete Evans for cooking etc. It wouldn’t be that expensive to do it either.

Anyway, ratings is getting so interesting. MasterChef is actually a lot better than I thought, and the ratings for it are pretty good as well. I really am starting to like that.

hopefully homeMADE does really well, because it looks great. Not sure about the timeslots though.

  19. Cameron May 9, 2009 at 11:33 am -

I bet Nine would be happy that Nine News is actually improving in the ratings. It has not even fallen below 1.1 million this week and has been the network’s strongest program some days and has been in the top 10 usually top 5 every day. Maybe the extra news and Hot Seat are to thank for this but more improvement is needed. Tonight will likely see Nine News just below 1.1 million but still a stronger performer. Seven News seems stable but it might be falling only just.

Nine News Perth Not under 100,000 viewers at all. Lowest at 108,000. This is starting to look good for both Win and Nine. ACA also over 100,000 viewers. Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane are getting average ratings. Doesn’t Nine News Brisbane suffer on weekends? It was close behind Seven on Sunday. Nine News Sydney has been improving with no days under 300,000 viewers and were close behind Seven last night. Something must be working better in Sydney and Perth to see stronger ratings.

    go hot seat.
it beat deal or no deal in both sydney and melbourne

  21. David Knox May 9, 2009 at 10:58 am -

As of Saturday Nine is leading the week 28.7 to Seven’s 27.8. Even a strong performance by ABC or TEN tonight could potentially work in Nine’s favour.

  22. Brodie May 9, 2009 at 12:27 am -

re the Bondi Vet finale promos…it was only the finale in some states, it still has 1 more episode in others which will air next week – due to being pre empt for Thursday night Footy earlier this year.

  23. bindi May 8, 2009 at 8:27 pm -

the promos for bondi vet i saw said explicitly that it was the season finale…what promos were you watching?

  24. Tepee May 8, 2009 at 4:58 pm -

Good to see the MW 20 years special within 100k of the once almighty Grey’s. It was an interesting watch.

  25. cpandilo May 8, 2009 at 4:23 pm -

JB1524, I watch Medium and am enjoying it.

  26. Harry May 8, 2009 at 4:14 pm -

Medium didnt do too badly! Fridays was a bad day for the show, it never rated well.. good on the Footy Show. Great number!

  27. Harry May 8, 2009 at 4:10 pm -

Masterchef was quite slow last night.. looks like its going to be an interesting.. TEN are so stupid. Bondi Vet Season Finale and they didnt even mention it on their dumb promos for the show, couldve easily gotten 1.2 million. Law and Order not doing to badly either

  28. JenC May 8, 2009 at 2:52 pm -

Another one who used to watch Grey’s but hasn’t seen an episode this season. It was going downhill..and after watching old ER episodes I thought why waste my time so just stopped watching Grey’s. Don’t even miss it.

  29. JB1524 May 8, 2009 at 2:23 pm -

    why doesn’t anyone watch medium!?

  30. Doreen May 8, 2009 at 2:08 pm -

The ratings this week are interesting. Masterchef has been entertaining, although I can understand the drop for last night – elimination episodes are boring of most tv shows. Greys used to be my favourite show – season 2 was its best but its been downhill since then. Izzy and Denny has been the death for me and there is no spark with Meredith & McDreamy anymore!

  31. sam May 8, 2009 at 2:05 pm -

ive got to say that i have been enjoying mastercheif…until last night…what a load of Cr@p…all the sad music , tears and perople voting eachother out. ??…What about some cooking people!!!!!! if they have to vote off how about a secret ballot that lasts 10 min then get on with it…any more episodes like that an im swiching off for good…..

  32. David Knox May 8, 2009 at 1:56 pm -

Yes Izzy seeing Denny has been just insulting to viewers, even if they try to write it off as a brain aneurysm.

  33. Jed May 8, 2009 at 1:53 pm -

Nah Grey’s Anatomy i used to love. Now i just can’t stand to watch it. It’s gotten all too soapy for my liking. She loves him, she hates him, she loves him, he loves her, he hates her, he loves her, but he also loves her. And it jumped the shark when Izzy started seeing dead Denny. Actually it prob jumped the shark when they brought in the new interns.

Heroes is starting to feel the same to me, i no longer have to watch it, its getting all too stupid. And btw, why was Heroes put on at 11 last night with scrubs on before it? Heard nothing about this.

  34. salf May 8, 2009 at 12:30 pm -

    @koverstreet,

    “what happened to greys?”

the same thing that happened to lost, heroes, CSI, ER, Ramsay, ugly betty, and most US imports. people just do not have any loyalty to their shows anymore and want to watch absolue rubbish like 20to1. greys is relatively quite a slow burner to most. still the #1 show for the night in the demos and still does tolerable tp’s.

  35. koverstreet May 8, 2009 at 11:51 am -

Geez what’s happened to Grey’s Anatomy it was once such a huge hit now it’s beaten easily by a 20 to 1 repeat.

    TFS doing quite well also.

  36. Andrew B May 8, 2009 at 11:13 am -

Masterchef drops to 4th for the night after being 1st on Wed. Bondi Vet way down most likely due to poor performance of Rules of Engagement coming 4th in its time slot. And Neighbours – wow – only a little above the ABC in its time slot.

  37. Brodie May 8, 2009 at 10:36 am -

MasterChef not such a break out hit after all, back under 1m.

  38. Darryn May 8, 2009 at 8:50 am -

Reading this forum, I am surprised at the number of people who are watching shows purely because of the channel they are on. Makes me certainly question the validity of comments they make about shows that are not on there favorite channel.

  39. john May 8, 2009 at 3:32 am -

The uk Masterchef shown on foxtel is highly addictive & was briefly on 7 over the summer period at 3 or 3.30pm,so i would think the same would be for this version if they don’t stray too far from the formula.

  40. Doug82 May 8, 2009 at 1:28 am -

The 7pm battle is getting interesting, on Monday the three shows were within 40k of each other. By Wednesday Masterchef has a significant lead over H&A

  41. Andrew B May 8, 2009 at 12:41 am -

Will be trying Harpers Island as well. As it is on 10, there is little risk of it being taken off once you get into it.

Given up already on 11th Hour on 9 as sick of having to deal with late starts and late finishes on my IQ2. Yes, there is the +20 feature but shouldn’t be necessary to think of using it. Not to mention the fact it’ll most likley be off in a few weeks so no point to get into it.

  42. Andrew B May 8, 2009 at 12:38 am -

Probably because Masterchef is a lot better and more interesting than Biggest Loser. Also quite different so far from most reality shows. Good to see something worth watching at 7pm other than Foxtel.

  43. Jimmy May 7, 2009 at 9:06 pm -

geez what a drop for TGYH!

So… hands up who thinks there’ll be a season 5?

  44. ryan May 7, 2009 at 8:10 pm -

just to let people know, masterchefs ratings are on average around 280,000 more than the biggest loser at this point:)

  45. ryan May 7, 2009 at 8:06 pm -

ten has harpers island this sunday which looks pretty awesome!! im fully excited about that.
