Hey David im on the hunt for some AFL figures from Adelaide. Do you have anything from Satudays ratings chart about Adelaide Crows V Carlton on channel 10 in Adelaide from 17.30pm-20.30pm ?
    Thanks in advance.

  3. Craig May 24, 2009 at 3:52 pm -

@Rob – Worst Week (on TEN) is a US remake of the UK show, probably be gone in a few weeks from ch10 and I’m sure it didn’t get a 2nd season pickup in the US.

Is 59 K for NBA playoffs a decent figure?

  5. Rob May 24, 2009 at 10:04 am -

what is or was worst week, i’ve missed it completely on Ten – it sounded like an ABC show from last year

  6. ryan May 23, 2009 at 5:51 pm -

does everyone know that masterchef runs for an hr on fridays and its an ep based on the chef hosts showing the contestants how to cook the meals they had to do in the challanges plus extras? this day is one of the best for masterchef and they explain the steps really well so anyone can cook the meals

  7. Jono D May 23, 2009 at 5:30 pm -

hey does anyone know what the king of queens got last nite. im surprised the 2.5 men got 618,000 *** 405,000 *** 86,000 128,000
405k in Melbourne, finally something to compete with Better Homes And Gardens.

  8. Craig May 23, 2009 at 2:28 pm -

The big problem with Life on Mars is it will always be compared to the original UK version, I haven’t seen the final yet and wonder how close it will be to the original? That said it’s one of the better UK to US copies we have had of late.

  9. Andrew B May 23, 2009 at 10:29 am -

To me, the worst thing about 20-1 is there is no substance behind the count downs. The order is chosen based on the opinion of a person as opposed to any proper system. Therefore no point in watching as its all too meaningless.

  10. Andrew B May 23, 2009 at 10:27 am -

Can understand Life On Mars being cancelled as the last few episodes have been rather poor compared to the way it started off.

  11. gros May 22, 2009 at 11:17 pm -

Ellie – I agree. I don’t understand 20 to 1′s success. The first few episodes I thought were interesting, but now the categories are just ridiculous and about things I couldn’t care less.

ryan – also agree. Thursdays are so freaking boring, the only show I watched was masterchef and i could barely sit through that, eliminations are boring. I hope ch 10 brings back SVU.

  12. ryan May 22, 2009 at 9:27 pm -

when u think about it, ten has had a pretty big yr. alot of new shows compared to 7 and nine and most of them are awesome. Masterchef is just kool as!! my favourite days are sundays challanges, fridays 1hr master class, and tuedsays comp. merlin is pretty kool, something different to what we are usually shown, probably why people have tuned in. Recruits is a kool show and i like it cause its mainly young people and not the same crap we see everywhere else. Tbyg is another good show! saw it for the 1st time this week and loved it.
There are shows that suck though and numbers is heading the list!!! then rules of engagement which isnt even funny! supernatural has had its time and needs to go!!. but overall pretty good yr for ten

@Harry: hey harry, u and me think so alike:). i agree with u that s.v.u should be on at 8.30 thur and ci after, although next week s.v.u is on wed 8.30 it will be interesting to see how it goes. medium is doing better on thur but still not good enough, maybe try it on a saturday after the footy since they are really boring.

  14. David Knox May 22, 2009 at 7:34 pm -

Thanks Barry. Pay TV ratings are added once a week on Mondays, to the preceding week. If you go back to earlier ratings in the Ratings Archive you can download Pay TV ratings.

  15. Barry Ellis May 22, 2009 at 7:23 pm -

    Hi David,

Thanks so much for all the insightful detail you provide each and every week. I was wondering, do Foxtel channels get measured in the official ratings? I was interested to see how Australia’s Next Top Model was going this year. But it doesn’t seem to rate a mention.

  16. Darryn May 22, 2009 at 6:40 pm -

Mmm, ryan it was a bad night, but 10 was so bad that 7 & 9 actually looked good. Now that is the real sad story

  17. Craig May 22, 2009 at 4:11 pm -

Worst week – again the US takes a good idea from another country and messes it up. By my count The Office and Life on Mars (now unfortunately canceled) are the only ones to work in recent years.

  18. Harry May 22, 2009 at 3:59 pm -

Worst Week, Rules Of Engagement both failures for TEN – must get rid of, SVU back on Thurs and CI to follow it later. That will def help them Thursdays.

Good on Masterchef – Good ep last night.

  19. Andrew B May 22, 2009 at 3:10 pm -

Worst week looked like worst show based on the ads, and the figures show it. Rules of Engagement no good either. Poor choice by ch 10 there, especially since Masterchef is winning its slot, then 10 falls to 4th with ABC Report doing better at 7.30.

  20. Goonies May 22, 2009 at 2:34 pm -

The calibre of last night’s TV was totally woeful with the exception of Graham Norton & Masterchef.

The rest of the night was sooooooooooo boring. Hope ch 10 axes worst week pretty sharpish!

  21. ryan May 22, 2009 at 1:44 pm -

burn notice actually did pretty well at times for ten, had alot of eps around 850,000, its a great show and we need it back!!! its alot better than supernatural which is going way beyond what it started with. i say just to keep people happy chuck it on at 10.30.! 10 could also put on late at night simpsons eps, i always crack open up simpson dvds late at night to watch, its something totally different to wats on at that time.
10 news needs to go to 5.30 till 6.30, no more simpsons repeats except for fridays and new eps on weds, would save alot of money and would hold onto viewers that are already watching instead of them switching to 7 or 9 at 6.

  22. ryan May 22, 2009 at 1:40 pm -

god thursdays are soooo boring!!! getaway is boring, masterchef is an elimination ep which sucks and is boring as, law and order ci, sucks! medium is on 2 late, 20 to 1 sucks greys anatomy sucks, everything sucks and are shows that have been around forever, except worst week and rules of engagement which both suck major!

  23. RichoTB May 22, 2009 at 12:58 pm -

Ten really need to axe Supernatural and Numb3rs, both shows are past their prime and viewers are sick of them. They’re struggling to reach 600k, that is abominable on all counts. They pulled Dexter ealier in the year with similar numbers. The bad thing is they have absolutely nothing to replace it with. What would they air, Burn Notice (which is likely to fail just as bad), Harper’s Island coming back is never going to happen. The Biggest Loser US? Unless they bring Rush back or play NCIS, House or Merlin repeats, looks like those shows are stuck there.

  24. Johnson May 22, 2009 at 12:10 pm -

Bad night for Ten, viewers don’t really appreciate the humour of David Spade. Looks like Ten will need to think which programs to show on Thursday nights.

  25. David Knox May 22, 2009 at 12:01 pm -

Today Tonight and ACA at 7pm in Brisbane due to extended news for floods coverage. Home and Away pre-empted in Brisbane.

No ABC2 show made the Top 100 on Thursday.

  26. Macarthurblack May 22, 2009 at 11:53 am -

What happened to Home and Away in Brisbane last night?

  27. MUZZA May 22, 2009 at 11:27 am -

David, could you provide the figures for ABC2 for thursday, especially from 8.00pm onwards?

  28. Craig May 22, 2009 at 10:57 am -

@Rutzie – I saw something similar the other day about a store they (9) had 24 hours before Seven aired it, IMO those ads are nothing but petty and immature.

BTW we didn’t have 20 to 1 here last night we got at least one ep of 2.5 Men, I wasn’t watching Nine but I guess it was a double after Getaway?

  29. Jed May 22, 2009 at 10:52 am -

Who else is over Heroes? It used to be a must watch for me, had to be home to watch it, bought the dvd the day it was released. Now it’s just meh. Over the whole Sylar storyline, it’s just the same old stuff, and i don’t know what’s going on anymore.

Watched both versions of the Footy Show last night. Still think the NRL version is miles ahead so i can see why it wins the Logies over the AFL, but don’t know why it cops so much flack. They should have that Scott Prince guy on all the time. He’s prob the only NRL player i’ve seen with a brain and personality. He was good.

  30. Brodie May 22, 2009 at 10:18 am -

That looks like Praivate Practice’s highest numbers this season. It definitely benefitied from the Grey’s crossover.

Ten absolutely fell apart, Their entire night isn’t working, not even demographically (coming 3rd in 16-39, 18-49 & 25-54 by a substantial margin)

  31. Ellie May 22, 2009 at 10:04 am -

I am sorry but I need to have a winge…

I can understand the success of most well rating television shows, they might not always be my cup of tea, but I can appreciate what goes into making them…

    Then there is……… “20 to 1″

    What the F%#@K??????????

  32. Jed May 21, 2009 at 11:23 pm -

@Tepee. That’s not true. Water Rats and Murder Call are two Australian shows Nine had that i thought were fantastic. Loved Hey Hey it’s Saturday! I don’t watch anythign on Nine now except Footy Classified, but that’s cos they’ve got nothing but crap shows.

Kat Stewart was probably the best of the lot, i’ll give you that, but i found the script woeful and corny, the acting wooden and amateurish (which is a shame cos there’s some great actors in the show, but the scripts made them look terrible)and the whole show was too try-hard. It knew what it wanted to be, but it wasn’t. I think the hype blinded everyone, and think it’s a shame it’s been given the credit i don’t think it deserves. I guess i just like to think our tv shows could be better, well i know there’s better. Or maybe i expect too much. If Underbelly is quality i must have high standards. That’s my view anyway.

  33. Rutzie May 21, 2009 at 10:35 pm -

Nine are getting desperate with their news. Nine News in Brisbane went for an hour on Wednesday night and Seven only ran for half an hour before crossing to TT, so Nine decide to run an ad showing the time 6.53pm and showing the news was still on Nine and then asking the question “What did Seven do?” followed by the answer “Crossed to Sydney”. I thought you only saw these type of ads during Elections.

  34. Tepee May 21, 2009 at 4:53 pm -

Amazing numbers for Seven News yesterday. Equally amazing from Spicks and Gruen. Nice to see House over the mill.

@Jed: I thought your comment about Sea Patrol and Underbelly was interesting. While I agree with your musings about Sea Patrol I don’t think Underbelly was “crap”. I thought Kat Stewart was amazing. You’re entitled to your opinion but I and the many people who enjoyed the original Underbelly wouldn’t appreciate being labelled “seriously deluded”. It seems you are “all for Australian shows” as long as they’re not on Nine.

  35. Harry May 21, 2009 at 3:27 pm -

If TEN had any brains, Numb3ers to get the axe.. numbers are horrid.

  36. Harry May 21, 2009 at 3:26 pm -

Damn… TGYH beat TBYG. It was bound to happen anyway. Great to see House crack a million for its Season Finale, well deserved. Its numbers have been low all season.

  37. Brodie May 21, 2009 at 2:30 pm -

@ Ryan. MasterChef may beat TGYH in some demos from 7.30 – 8.00pm. But TGYH was the #1 show overall last night for 16-39, 18-49, 25-54 & Total people. The switch over to TGYH from MC is huge, hence the poor retention for The new Simpsons.

  38. Darryn May 21, 2009 at 1:01 pm -

Poor 10, once again the week is over for them

  39. ryan May 21, 2009 at 12:33 pm -

ten should do better from next week when they have s.v.u on wednesdays. Can’t wait!€

  40. David Knox May 21, 2009 at 12:12 pm -

No you don’t add two half hours to make a one hour total, you get the average of both. Cold Case won the hour.

  41. shaun May 21, 2009 at 11:55 am -

great night for 7 news on wed at a high over 1.7 million just behind tgyh better no.s this wk nearly 1.7 that gave criminal minds a bigger audience this wk too with nearly 1.3 even earl is at a high with 907 thousand and family guy huge 730 thousand the biggest no.s for both in the 9:30 to 10:30pm slot, that would give both shows in that slot together for a total of 1.633 million beating numbers and cold case and winning the demos and the no.1 programs between 9:30 and 10:30, david I was just wondering with figures i got in the 9:30 to 10:30 slot with earl and fg is that correct how they work out the ratings for that hour or is it different ? thanks if you can answer that .

  42. ryan May 21, 2009 at 11:14 am -

rutzie, your rite, thank god your here will top the week, but masterchef still beat it in all demos except total people in the last 30 mins. just shows you can have a good rating show but not get good demos for it

  43. ryan May 21, 2009 at 11:11 am -

numbers is a shocking show!! how they work out things is just stupid! boring, crappy actors, bad sets, shall i go on? ten needs to axe it. poor rating! lost 400,000 from house

  44. Brodie May 21, 2009 at 10:36 am -

    Big audience for TGYH.

Numb3rs won’t last long in that slot. It’s retention is terrible.

  45. salf May 21, 2009 at 10:19 am -

looks like the tables have turned. 9 is the nanna network. this is the 4th day in a row that 9 came 3rd in all demo’s under 55. they are only getting over the line with their 55+ share.

great #’s for TGYH should make it the #1 show of the week. numbers needs to go, i could understand if it had good demos but it doesn’t. 7′s patience with earl, family guy, and ponderland is paying off. all of them increasing.good house numbers, mentalist is ok but should be much better, and great for CM and RPA.

is australia getting over hot seat already? i watched it for a few weeks. it’s not an every-night type of show. it started out good but now it is just getting repetitive and boring, and eddie= *cringe*. so i switched back to deal, much more entertaining and watchable.

  46. Rutzie May 21, 2009 at 9:55 am -

Looks like TGYH pipped both NCIS and TBYG to be the no.1 show of the week. Great numbers for Spicks & Specks. Quiz shows seem to be the flavour of the month. Also great numbers for Earl at 9.30pm. You wouldn’t happen to have the demo’s for Earl would you David. Thanks in advance.
