Airdate: Trouble in Paradise

By David Knox on June 11, 2009 / Filed Under Programming 8

all-flights-cancelledNine will premiere its new travel-based series Trouble in Paradise from 8:30pm Thursday June 25.

This means it replaces a long run by 20 to 1 (Bert has surely been over-worked there!) and will sensibly follow Getaway.

The show promises “incredible stories of travellers who’ve been subjected to terrifying experiences while on holidays in different parts of the world. They escaped with their lives, but it could easily happen to any one of us.”

I missed the beginning of this show and wanted to know the name of the town in Mexico where it took place. Anyone remember?

lol you’re right philm. bit of irony, you would think ‘Oh finally, Nine have two programs that flow nicely being to do with travel, but one show is telling you to go and another one is scaring you out of it. Dumb time slot

thinking about it i think it really funny- first ‘getaway’ tells us to go on holiday to these amazing places then ‘trouble in paradise’ is on right after shattering those holiday dreams into a million pieces.

Fantastic, more xenophobic programming that feeds on paranoia and fear of foreigners and foreign countries. Just when you thought Border Security, Border Security USA and Customs were enough, now they’re taking the marginalisation of different cultures out of airports and into the countries themselves. I wonder if they’ll show tourists having “terrifying experiences while on holidays” in Australia like being caught in the middle of the Cronulla Riots. Not likely.

At last a break away from 20-1. That’s got to be a big plus for ch 9 and maybe a move in the right direction (unless its been moved to another time slot!).
