Just what you want when you’re having your dinner: Mike Munro getting a test for Prostate Cancer on national television.
But it was all for a good cause, with the Sunday Night presenter going above and beyond the call of duty for a story on a disease which kills more men than breast cancer does women.
That’s because not enough blokes go the test, which said a somewhat uncomfortable Munro, required a finger test that lasted “just 16 seconds.”
He got the all clear for his annual test. But as the rest of his story showed, others including Alan Jones were not so lucky.
A year ago 60 Minutes covered the operation which saved the life of Nine’s Sam Newman.
Munro, 57, who perhaps took inspiration from Louis Theroux‘s habit of always experiencing his subjects first hand, was told by his doc to “think of something nice and pleasant” during the check up.
Wonder if he thought of Merlin at all?

I have prostate cancer and my psa count which is all a blood test goes by is below 2. So believe you are fine if you wish but any urologist will tell you that a blood test is not always accurate as to the result of weather yes you have prostate or not, hence the finger test whereby they can feel if your prostrate is changed in shape.
“Hehe silly straight men. The discomfort on his face.”
Most naive comment I’ve ever seen.
I like Wil Anderson’s tweet about this! haha
Mike Munro films prostate exam. Doctor says test was easy, he has never seen a bigger a**ehole.
Who would want to watch this? Mike Monroe isn’t exactly a lovable personality. He’s more like the uncle you were scared of as a kid.
Mike must like this sort of thing as @Joe says, it’s just a blood test now.
Hehe silly straight men. The discomfort on his face.
On a more serious note yes, this is nothing new. This has been done in the U.S time and time again.
Both Newman’s and Munro’s on-air experiences actually are more likely to have been inspired by the US Today Show’s Katie Couric having an on-air colonoscopy back in 2000. Did wonders for promoting health check-ups… and also did wonders for ratings.
David, id be curious to hear your take on 7 resting sunday night for 8 weeks to make way for Dancing with the stars, it seems odd to rest the show that over the last 6 weeks or so has gained a lot of ground and is rating quite well now, is it your understanding that it will be returning later in the year, is the “resting” of it to do with costs?
:lmao: maybe he’s wondering if they can beat the wizard over on TEN.
I just had an prostate cancer test, it was a blood test.
If you want to scare men off show them the fingure test.
