Hot Tip: Dancing with the Stars

hot-tip11Pencil in Sunday July 5 on your dance card if you’re looking for the next season of Seven’s Dancing with the Stars.

TV Tonight understands Seven will be keeping the show on Sunday nights, particularly with an expected return of Packed to the Rafters to Tuesdays.

This would logically run the show through to early September.

Last year the show had tough competition with Australian Idol, and averaged a lukewarm 1.28m viewers across its season.

    Yuk!!!!!

You only have to watch episodes of Channel Ten’s So You Can think You can Dance to see how much better the Americans do it
I know which is the better dancing show

  2. Ruth says:

After being a fan of DWTS from the start I came to the conclusion last year that, even with the new format, it was all danced out and would have liked Ch 7 to have had another season of ‘It Takes 2′ instead….oh well.

I’m agree with the other posters here that Sunday nights should stay as is……I look forward to ‘Sunday Night’ now at 6.30pm so I hope it’s staying.

Does anyone know if and when ‘Rush’ will be returning to Ch 10 ????

  3. jack says:

i reckon city homicide will return to mondays when housewives finish in July/August, as it was struggling on sundays earlier this year. bones is rating much better than city homicide in the sunday 8:30pm slot, hopefully they won’t stuff it around like they’ve done with my other faves which now sit in graveyard timeslots.

  4. Todd says:

So no ‘It Takes Two’ this year then? I wonder why…. ?

  5. greysfan says:

I dont think they would move Bones again! That would be lunacy. Who knows it could replace DH on Monday yet. I mean would they yank off Sunday Night for DWTS. It is only now starting to get momentum. I think Wednesdays could be the money. To me it just makes more sense.

I know David you have tipped July 5th but i cant see Seven yanking off Bones to another night. That would mean 6 different timeslots since it started airing. I also dont see Seven moving its #1 US drama to 9:30pm.

One thing i can see happening is City Homicide returning to Mondays now Bones is doing great guns. Still time will tell. At the beginning of the year i thought shows would go there and there and they were put in totally different timeslots. I mean we were adamant that DH and Grey’s would be Sundays, CH and Bones Mondays, Tuesdays remained the same etc. So Seven could do absolutely anything.

@michael lol. love the new name.

  7. RichoTB says:

Bones will probably take over Criminal Minds’ slot as they only have 5 eps to go before the season finale. DWTS could take over 7.30pm through 9.30pm with Castle following after. Funnily enough, thats exactly how ABC schedules it in the states (DWTS at 8pm followed by Castle at 10pm)

  8. michael says:

Due to having no C-list celebrities left, is it also true the show is going to just be called “So you think these Channel 7 Celebrities can dance?”

  9. Johnson says:

Saw on Today Tonight that Gerrard Gosens (who has competed in three Paralympic Games) will become the first blind person to compete in DWTS. Should be interesting.
@ Jerome: we are halfway through season 4 of Bones (13 aired, 13 to go) so it will be interesting to see if the drama will be moved.

  10. Harry says:

Dont like Dancing With The Stars, but it will work for Seven, espec with PTTR on Tuesdays.

  11. Rutzie says:

David you don’t happen to know if it will have a 6.30pm or 7.30pm start time do you. Thanks in advance.

  12. nick says:

In an hour format hopefully, they can’t shift Bones to 9.00 or 9.30 then Castle at 10 or 10.30, they wouldn’t dare make that risk – imagine the uproar

  13. Phoebe says:

@mathew. most likely. seven is a bitch with timeslots on your favourite shows.

hm, well i think dwts lost alot of views last year to idol. i think it would be very wise of seven to air dwts at 6.30. its a prime time show.

wonder who the celebrity’s will be this year, shal be interesting.

  14. Tepee says:

Surely they’ve learnt that Sundays aren’t right for DWTS. They already have the winning formula with Bones/Castle, why would they ruin it?

  15. jack says:

if you losers in eastern australia didn’t have to put your clocks forward every year we wouldn’t have a problem, would we? Instead, non DST states are continually forced upon with the issue of daylight saving that they don’t want!

  16. Guy says:

I thought it would return to Wednesdays. I know its another new night but i was pencilling it in to replace TGYH because Bones and Castle is doing so well. It seems 3 weeks too early since Castle has 10 episodes so 8 would be played out and it would be a shame if Castle was shifted to 10:30pm Sunday for 2 weeks. It could hurt the show. I mean its averaging 1m viewers.

  17. Belinda says:

They better not stuff around Bones (13 new episodes left) and Castle (7 episodes left).

  18. Jerome says:

bones will have to be put on hold or have a day change for DWTS, i doubt they will put new eps of their best import at 10:00 Sunday (which is when it usually ends.)

i think it’s a silly time to start. they can just have a 2x2hr bones final and then start DWTS 1 week before idol starts. then there is no competition with MC and a leg up on idol, and bones finishes nicely. everyone is happy.

although the fact that they are starting earlier could mean that they will be able to do 2 seasons next year.

word is that one of the contestants will be a blind man that climbs mountains and does inspirational speeches. watch TT tonight.

  19. Mac says:

A show so bad, even when I friend of mine was a contestant, I couldn’t watch it.

  20. Kuttsywood says:

Maybe Seven’s trying to avoid Queensland, SA, NT and WA complaints season.

In other words they are trying to avoid Daylight Saving, which can be seen as one of the reasons for the ratings decline last year.

  21. philm says:

I don’t know if it will do that much better against Masterchef.

  22. mathew says:

This better not run over time and make Bones start later.

  23. RichoTB says:

Good move, this means Border Security will finally be off screens for at least a few weeks. And it seems they’ve finally made Sunday a hit night with Bones/Castle, I wonder if they’ll bring City Homicide back in that slot later this year?

  24. Jerome says:

interesting. what would happen to bones/castle, it’s such a winning formula.
