John Foreman’s right hand man on Australian Idol, David Pritchard-Blunt, is to be elevated to the role of Musical Director for the reality series.

Pritchard-Blunt has worked on six seasons of Idol, theatre productions Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert and Shout! and has toured extensively with a variety of international artists.

Foreman said Pritchard-Blunt knew the Australian Idol system inside out.

“He will be great,” he said. “He’s a very experienced arranger.”

Foreman has stepped down from his role as Musical Director.

“It’s nice to not have the pressure.”
