John Foreman quits Idol

First James Mathison, now Australian Idol loses its nice-guy maestro, as John Foreman steps aside.

foremanAustralian Idol musical director John Foreman has left the show after six years.

His departure follows co-host James Mathison’s, anounced earlier this year. Nice guy Foreman’s exit will leave the show with something of a whole new look.

Foreman said it was a long and hard decision, but in the end he thought the time was right.

“It was a very difficult decision for me.

“I’ve had six really great years on Idol and 16 years at Channel 10.

“There was a lot of pacing up and down and sleepless nights thinking about it.

“But the role of musical director takes over your life.

“I got to the point where I thought, ‘I think I’ve done all I can for that show’.”

Since his early days on Good Morning Australia, Foreman is now at the top of the tree in television musical direction for live performance. So in demand are his skills that he is seen on the Nine Network for the Logie Awards and Carols by Candelight and the ABC broadcast of Schools Spectacular.

He has also hosted his own The Big Night In music series twice for TEN.

Foreman rated introducing an orchestra from season one as his proudest moment onIdol.

  1. *agreees with all that has already been said*

my mouth just keeps dropping further everytime another regular leaves. i was really shocked by mark, then more shocked about james, but understandable, and i never saw this coming. i guess when the time is right, the time is right. he will defiantly be missed thats for sure.
any date on when its going to start. probably around august…or maybe when dwts starts.

  2. Gee, they’re bailing on this show hard and fast aren’t they. From Holden last year to Mathison and Foreman this year. Funny how Pop Idol in the UK only had two seasons while this one is now entering its 7th in Australia.
