Lost photos mistaken for Air France crash

lost11A Bolivian television station has been forced to apologise for accidentally airing photographs from Lost, presented as images of a recent Air France airliner that went down in the Atlantic.

“On Thursday, two photographs were aired on our prime time news report and on Friday we apologised,” said Eddy Luis Franco, the news director for the privately-owned PAT television station.

The photographs showed the interior of an aircraft.

In the first one, passengers are seen using oxygen masks to counter the effects of loss of cabin pressure, and in the second a passenger is shown being sucked out of the rear of the aircraft as its tail breaks off.

“These two photos were apparently taken by one of the passengers on the airliner the instant before the collision and after the aircraft crashed,” the news presenter said in airing the images.

She said the photographs were recovered from the memory of a digital camera that belong to a passenger described as a Brazilian actor.

I only hope that when another plan crash occurs some where around the world that it is those sick Bast—s that are on the plane or someone close to them.

  2. Goonies says:

Everytime a plane crashes these photos show up – if more people checked out Snopes this wouldn’t happen! Or maybe if people just used their brains a little bit more.

  3. Shelly says:

I am appalled that, had they been real, any news service would have dared to publish them. That in itself is just sick! I’ll remind you of the famous falling man photo from the 9/11 attacks that caused huge backlash to the 1 paper that published it.

That said, it’s defintely Kate in the front of this shot – you can see the handcuffs on her wrist. And Jack was sitting on the other side of the plane to this photo.

  4. Flyby says:

They used the same pics for that GOL Airlines and Embraer jet collision in Brazil… Do they think we are stupid??? Oh wait……they do…. and some are….

  5. julian says:

I think they are incompentent idiots, and doesnt respect the fact that a lot of people lost their lives in that crash. On the other hand, how could they be so stupid by showing something from lost!!! its like the most seen tv show ever. They should be taken out of the air for being such an stupid group of people who works on tv and doesnt know anything about tv. Damn Bolivians!!

  6. Tracey says:

It is amazing how far news stations will go to try and be the first to get the story.

  7. anonymous says:

I’ve seen a lot of shops in my days and this is obviously photoshopped,
you can tell by the pixels.

  8. Kuttsywood says:

Provided they don’t actually screen Lost on their channel.

    Nine, learn from this!

  9. Craig says:

OMG! this would be hysterical, if it wasn’t so tragic.

Seriously millions have seen those images over the years, amazing they didn’t use the video and say it was recovered from the wreckage. They should be sued by the relatives of those involved and fined by the relevant authorities!

  10. rowena says:

    omg how scary

  11. Azmond says:

  13. bindi says:

shannon and jack? the people at the front of the pic look like kate and the guy who arrested her to me, and i think that’s boone across the isle 1 back, shannon should be next to him shouldn’t she?

  14. Ben says:

This reminds me of when an Italian news channel, whichever one is or use to be shown on SBS back in ‘90 – ‘91, used helicopter footage from Apocalypse Now in one of their reports during the Gulf War.

  15. David Knox says:

    Thanks Evan. Pics updated.

  16. RichoTB says:

lol, you can see Shannon and Jack in the foreground of that photo

  17. Evan says:

    David,

The photos are available on the Snopes website

  18. Tony says:

It doesn’t sound like the station was trying to “get away with it”. More likely, some enterprising person passed the images off as genuine and sold them to the station. It would be funny, if it wasn’t so tragic.

  19. mac says:

considering the amount of people who would have seen these images on lost how did the station think they would get away with it, plus i doubt very much anyone would be able to stand there and take a photo while the plane rips apart.
